Last month we launched our new Memory Place Cafe In conjunction with Manna Care. 💜

We welcomed some new members to The Cottage and some wonderful volunteers who shared a lovely morning tea together and formed connections through sharing and story swapping. 💫

The cafe provides an opportunity for people living with dementia and their carer, including people living alone with dementia, to socialise and share information with others in a relaxed and informal setting. Held on the 3rd Wednesday each month - our next cafe will be Wednesday September 16th.

Interval training is a mix of low & high intensity exercises to build strength and conditioning- suitable for all ages and most fitness levels.

Back for the September School Holidays 🧵

We are excited to share that we have teamed up again with local maker and creator Elizabeth from Merton Made - local small business who many may have seen at our Makers Markets before.
Elizabeth makes and creates adults and kids aprons and lots of other wonderful sewing creations. Elizabeth will share her extensive sewing expertise and help teach tweens/teens how to sew. They will learn the basics and come home with a special project to compliment starting their sewing journey. Perfect for ages 10-14. Fabric provided. BYO snacks and water bottle.

2 sessions available:
Level 1 - Beginners
Level 2 - previously completed level 1 or has basic sewing skills / knowledge.

📣 Seeking Local Registered Accountant (Charity Accounts Review)

Our local NFP neighbourhood house is looking for a local registered accountant to assist with reviewing our accounts for charity purposes.

Our previously engaged accountant is no longer operating, so we are seeking someone who has experience with charities/not-for-profit organisations and can assist with reviewing our financial records and accounts.

Community Notice ~ 🏡

Changes to operation of our Occasional Care Service - following careful consideration our centre will no longer offer a Monday occasional care service from the commencement of Term 4, 2026.
This has been an incredibly difficult decision and one that has not been made lightly, the centre has experienced significant financial loss due to a number of external factors affecting the early childhood sector and our community.

Monday attendance levels have remained consistently below the level required to operate in a financially viable way.
Although this decision is disappointing it is necessary to help safeguard the long term sustainability of our occasional care and to ensure we can continue providing high quality care for our community.

We understand this change may impact some families, we are committed to supporting you through this transition. We remain dedicated to providing a welcoming, nurturing and high quality occasional care program for all families at our centre. 🍃

In line with Neighbourhood Houses Victoria’s Campaign- Keep our doors open and in light of these current circumstances we would appreciate our community sign this petition for parliament to help our sector access more funding:
