🐾 RESCUE ADOPTION- ELLA 🐾

Meet Ella, a beautiful one eye 10-year-old Blue Cattle Dog with a heart of gold and a smile that will brighten your day.

Ella is a sweet, gentle girl who loves routine and all the simple pleasures in life. She'll greet you with her signature smile and an enthusiastic "awwooo" before settling in for one of her favourite activities – a sunny afternoon nap.
Despite being a senior, Ella is still an active girl who enjoys her daily walks and has wonderful manners out and about. While she may be a working breed, Ella has decided that the indoor life is where it's at and much prefers comfort, cuddles, and relaxing with her people.
Ella is gentle with humans of all ages and has previously lived successfully with cats. She would love a home where she can be the only dog, or with a calm, independent canine companion who respects her space. Playful, bouncy dogs aren't really Ella's style these days – she'd rather enjoy a peaceful retirement without the chaos.

✨ 10 years old
✨ Desexed, vaccinated & wormed
✨ Previously lived with cats
✨ Gentle and affectionate
✨ Well-mannered on walks
✨ Located in Illawarra, NSW
💰 Adoption Fee: $250

If you're looking for a loyal companion who will greet you with a smile, keep you company on walks, and happily snooze in the sunshine by your side, Ella could be your perfect match.

🐶 Apply to adopt Ella today and give this lovely senior girl the forever home she deserves. ❤️

🐾 HELP US KEEP SAYING YES 🐾

Every rescue story begins with a dog in need.

A dog abandoned at a pound. A dog surrendered when circumstances changed. A dog neglected, forgotten or simply running out of time. Behind every happy adoption photo is a journey that most people never see, a journey made possible by the support of people who believe every dog deserves a second chance.

At BFFE Rescue, we receive calls and messages every hour asking if we can help a dog with nowhere else to go. Some need urgent veterinary treatment. Some need months of rehabilitation. Others simply need a safe place to sleep, a full belly and someone willing to believe in them.

The question we face every day is simple:

Can we say yes?

The answer depends entirely on the resources available to us.

Rescue is powered by love, but it is funded by donations.

Every dog that enters our care requires food, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, desexing, microchipping, veterinary care, bedding, enrichment, transport and ongoing support. Many arrive needing far more than the basics. Some require specialist treatment, surgery, behavioural support or extensive rehabilitation before they are ready to find their forever families.

While our volunteers donate countless hours of their time and our foster carers open their homes and hearts, the financial cost of rescue continues every single day.

This End of Financial Year, we're asking for your support.

A donation may not seem like much, but it truly changes lives.

$5 can help provide a meal.
$20 can help cover parasite prevention.
$50 can help contribute towards vaccinations.
$100 can help us provide essential veterinary care.
Every dollar brings a rescue dog one step closer to safety and a forever home.

Most importantly, your donation helps ensure that when the next call comes, we have the ability to say "yes."

💙 Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.

To donate via direct deposit, please use the account details provided and send us a message so we can issue your tax receipt.

Every donation, every share and every act of support makes a difference.

From the dogs currently in our care, the dogs who have already found their forever homes, and the dogs we haven't met yet but know will need us soon - THANK YOU!

Together, we can continue giving second chances, changing lives and helping more dogs find the happy endings they deserve. ❤️🐾

💙 Rufus' Happily Ever After 💙

Some dogs arrive in rescue carrying more than just a lead and collar. They carry a story.

Rufus came to us from a rural pound where he found himself facing euthanasia not once, but twice. The first time simply because he was unwanted. The second time after being adopted and returned through absolutely no fault of his own.

Despite every reason to lose faith, Rufus remained the gentle giant we all came to adore.

While waiting for his forever family, Rufus spent his days in our rescue kennels being thoroughly spoiled, loved and admired by everyone he met. His larger-than-life personality, goofy antics, quiet wisdom and stoic nature made him impossible not to fall in love with.

Of course, Rufus also believed every volunteer needed a personal fitness program. He happily took many of them for what he considered a "walk" and everyone else considered being towed behind a freight train. Thankfully, he eventually learned that patience was a virtue and that dragging humans down the street didn't actually count as his good deed for the day.

Behind Rufus stood an army of dedicated volunteers, temporary carers and supporters who saw the incredible dog he truly was and never stopped believing his perfect home was out there.

Then along came Gill and Ian.

They saw Rufus' photo and recognised that his giant size was matched only by his giant heart. After meeting him, they went home to discuss things for approximately the same amount of time it takes Rufus to decide whether getting up from a nap is really worth the effort.

Before long, sleepovers were arranged.

Rufus made himself at home immediately. He claimed the bed, established ownership of the kitchen and secured the prime position for neighbourhood surveillance. Daytime naps became mandatory, slobber trails became interior decorating, and exercise became the occasional journey from one comfy spot to another.

In other words, he fit right in.

To every volunteer, carer and supporter who played a part in Rufus' journey, thank you. Your love, patience and belief gave this beautiful boy the second, third and fourth chances he deserved.

And to Gill, Ian and Rufus, may your days be filled with endless naps, plenty of snacks, lots of laughs and all the love that comes with finding exactly where you belong.

Happy ever after, big guy. You waited a long time for your family, but they were worth every minute. ❤️

The One Who Waited the Longest, Finally Home

ADOPTED – BIGGIE ❤️

After almost two years in rescue, Biggie's wait is finally over... because the family he was waiting for was right in front of him all along.

Before coming into our care, Biggie spent nearly a year in the pound, eventually finding himself on the forever sleep list with very little hope of a future. Thankfully, his story didn't end there.

After spending time at our rescue kennels, Biggie moved into foster care with Dale and Hayden and settled into life in a house full of boys. While countless dogs came into rescue and found their forever homes, Biggie waited patiently. Day after day, month after month, he watched his friends leave while he stayed behind, never quite finding his people.

What Biggie didn't know was that he had already found them.
Over the years, Biggie had an entire village behind him. Dale and Hayden gave him stability, adventures, beach trips, car rides, fly patrol duties, and stood by him through the less glamorous moments, including those brave visits to the vet. Our holiday carers and volunteers loved him as their own and helped him continue believing that his turn would come.
And now it has.

Biggie is officially a foster fail, with Dale making it official and giving him the forever home he has always deserved. These days, Biggie spends his time enjoying beach adventures, car rides, and happily third-wheeling with Dale and Abbey. He also loves visiting his grandparents, who have become his home away from home.

To everyone who played a part in Biggie's journey, our volunteers, carers, supporters, and everyone who cheered him on along the way - thank you. Every bit of love helped carry him to this moment.

And to Dale and Abbey, thank you for seeing the incredible dog we always knew Biggie was. Thank you for choosing him, loving him, and giving him the happy ending he waited so long for.

Wishing you all a lifetime of adventures, laughter, sandy paws, and unconditional love together.

Happy tails, Biggie. You were always worth the wait. ❤️🐾
