🚒 THINKING ABOUT BECOMING AN ON-CALL FIREFIGHTER IN COLEDALE? 🚒

Fire and Rescue NSW is looking for people who are interested in joining the team at Coledale Fire Station!

Come along to our Information Session to find out more about what’s involved, the application process, training, and what it’s really like being an on-call firefighter. 👨‍🚒👩‍🚒

We particularly welcome applications from university students, shift workers and individuals with strong mid-week daytime availability. The on-call role can provide an excellent opportunity to contribute to the local community while working around study, employment and other commitments.

🚒Station 258 is hiring!!!🚒

Fire & Rescue NSW’s retained (or on-call) firefighters are everyday
women and men who balance their work, study and family
commitments with a critical ‘on-call’ role in their local community.
Retained firefighters work as part of a team (or crew) to provide,
when needed, an extraordinary service to their community

🔥Essential requirements:🔥
Availability to attend fire calls and other incidents.
Live or work within a reasonable distance from the fire station you are
applying for.
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to meet the medical and physical requirements of the job,
including pre-employment medical.
Current motor driver licence (not L plates).
Australian citizen or permanent resident.

Vacancies are also open for Fire and Rescue NSW Station 442 Scarborough and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 461 Thirroul.

On Friday afternoon our crew went to a rather unique call out… a bird in a tree! This friendly household cockatoo had his wings clipped, which led to him being in the unfortunate situation of getting stuck up a tree and being too scared to fly down. Thankfully, with the assistance of the Fire and Rescue NSW Station 442 Scarborough we were able to safely rescue him back into his owners arms.

Last night the fire rescue semi trailer came to town.

This was another training drill to give us a refresh of our skills in case of a fire emergency, this drill contained:
-simulated unit fire in the semi trailer
-multiple firefighting methods including fire attack and search and rescue
- practice of strong and clear fire ground communication through radios

These drills help to keep us prepared for anything and keep our community safe
