Have you seen our bins around ??

Our brigade is lucky enough to be supported by Reub Goldberg Brewing Machine and Balgownie Hotel who both collect their cans and bottles to support our brigade.

Our members regularly change over bins and take them for recycling at the local return and earn.

Thanks to the local businesses for their continuing partnership!

Bush fires can occur quickly and without warning. Before you travel, make sure you have checked the conditions and have a plan in place if things change. Let people know your movements and if it’s not safe, avoid traveling altogether. Always keep an eye out for emergency vehicles and if you see a fire call triple Zero (000).

Preparation starts with you. When a bush fire threatens,
the decisions you make can save your life.
Firefighters will do everything they can to protect
communities, but they can’t be everywhere at once. There
is no guarantee a fire truck will be there when you need it.
That’s why it’s important to have a Bush Fire Survival Plan
and know what you’ll do before a fire starts.
Before the bush fire season:
• Discuss your Bush Fire Survival Plan with everyone in
your household.
• Prepare your home.
• Know the Bush Fire Alert Levels and when you need to
leave.
• Keep key information and important documents on hand.
The more prepared you are, the more options you’ll have
when conditions change.

Burning embers can ignite any build up of flammable material around the home. Keeping your gutters clear is essential for reducing your risk. The more you prepare your home, the more likely it will survive a bush fire or ember attack, even if you leave early. Learn more at www.rfs.nsw.gov. au/prepare

Plan what you will take in advance and consider keeping a go-bag so you’re ready to move quickly. Remember to bring important documents such as passports and birth certificates and medical prescriptions. Also, ensure you pack changes of clothes, water, non-perishable food, chargers, and any medications you may need. It may be some time before it will be safe for you to return home.

Wow what a weekend!
Traditionally this weekend in September is get ready weekend. Brigades get out into their communities and help residents to understand their bush fire risk and take simple steps to prepare their homes, and family.

Bulli started on Saturday with a Sausage sizzle at Bunnings and an information table inside. We spoke to lots of residents about where they lived and some of their concerns about bushfires, sold 80kg of sausages, 20kg of onions, 65 loaves of bread and many litres of sauce. Mid morning we attended a car fire on the M1 at Bulli tops that ran into the bush. Two of our officers also helped two people who came off their bike on their way to pick up more bread. Apologies to the customers that had to have their snag on a crust in the mean time!
On Sunday we set up at Bulli beach. We had a great day showing people our trucks and equipment. Lots of people came and took away information to help them prepare for bushfires and a few more got a bit wet playing with the hoses.
And to cap it all off just as we were locking up, we received a call to a smoke sighting in Thirroul. A jam packed and fun weekend for all involved!
