Wollombi Valley Landcare

Wollombi Valley Landcare We are a not-for-profit organisation you can donate through BSB 062805 Account 10040191. Donations can be made by direct debit to BSB 062805 Account 10040191.

Wollombi Valley Landcare group was formed on 1st March 1991 and has spent the years since working with the community to preserve and care for our natural heritage. WVLG was formed in response to the severe erosion in the upper catchment of the Wollombi Brook following the 1990 floods. More recently we have been very involved in the regeneration of natural habitat after the 2019 bushfires in the Wo

llombi Valley and in supporting local landowners to treat mange in the local wombat population. The group is affiliated with the Australia-wide Landcare movement and is a not-for-profit organisation with charitable status. Members elect a management committee each April. The number of financial members averages around 50, paying an annual subscription of $20. We publish articles in the local newsletter, OON, and our page and web site, to promote events, workshops and other related activities and information. We have a fox trap and Hamilton Tree Planters (for tubestock) for members to borrow, and also have equipment for planting long-stem tubestock available for hire. We liaise with district and regional agencies and focus on projects and activities that encourage the sustainable use of our natural resources. c/o Wollombi General Store

Tell us what it’s like to experience landcare. The annual Landcare Week 2026 Survey gathers insights on what motivates people to get involved in landcare, how participation impacts their wellbeing, and what landcare looks like in communities across the country. Tell Us What It’s Like to Experience Landcare!

The Landcare Week 2026 Survey is your chance to be part of shaping the national story for landcare.

Landcare Australia, together with Landcare ACT, Queensland Water and Land Carers, the Landcare Association of South Australia and Landcare Victoria invite you to take part in the National Landcare Week 2026 Survey.

We’re gathering insights from those involved in landcare across Australia to better understand why people get involved, how landcare impacts wellbeing and community connection, and what support is needed to help landcare thrive.

The survey is open to landcare volunteers, landcare groups and other community-led environmental groups, Traditional Owners and First Nations organisations, landholders, farmers, educators and organisations who support landcare.

Survey insights will be announced during Landcare Week (3-9 August 2026) as part of the Experience Landcare campaign.

The survey takes around 10 minutes to complete and closes 30 June 2026.

Best wishes to all our Wollombi Valley Landcare Group members and their families for 2026.

We are looking forward to delivering a program of workshops promoting our understanding of the Wollombi Valley’s ecology and how we interact with it. There will also be planting and weeding activities for young and the not-so-young.

We also invite members with a special interest or subject matter expertise they wish to explore and/or share with the members, to please let us know about it, so we can explore incorporating that knowledge into our program.

Current financial members are invited to a lunch at Myrtle and Stone on Sunday, 22 February 2026 at 12:00pm.

This year local and long-time Landcare member, Chris Davey will give a short talk on the birds, rare and not so rare, in our beautiful Wollombi Valley.
Lunch will be provided at a cost of $30 per person.
