IT'S PACER WEEK!

We are very excited to introduce our pacers for Pacer Week happening this week at Reddall Reserve parkrun: These volunteers have been carefully hand-selected and will run at even and consistent speeds to help others achieve specific time goals whilst providing motivation, encouragement, and avoiding starting out too fast! Our pacers will be identified by wearing high-visibility vests with goal times clearly visible on their back.

Here are your Pacers:
20:00 Minutes - Aaron "Have Fun" WILSON!
22:30 Minutes - Mariana "‘Ándale, Ñndale!" BYRNE!
25:00 Minutes - David "We will rock you" PAUL!
27:30 Minutes - Matt "Keep Running" MEURANT!
30:00 Minutes - Aaron "Energizer" BOWDEN!
32:30 Minutes - Malcolm "Believe!" BROWN!
35:00 Minutes - Patrick "Schimo" SCHYMITZEK!
37:30 Minutes - Luke "The Encourager" GRIFFIN!
45:00 Minutes - Michael "Don't Stop" MUNDT!
50:00 Minutes - Kellie "Challenger" MUNDT!

Read through their bios, pick your pacer, give them some kudos or comment below and let them know if you will be looking for them on Saturday morning!

KEY REASONS:
- Pacers help runners hit specific, target times (eg. 20, 25, 30, 35 minutes).
- Pacers maintain a steady rhythm (even splits), which is often more effective than running faster early and slowing down.
- Pacers offer encouragement during difficult parts of the course, especially in the final kilometer.
- Following a pacer teaches runners how to manage their energy over the 5km distance.
- Pacing counts as a volunteer role for the pacer, who will also achieve a run credit.

NEXT EVENTS:
Reddall Reserve parkrun will be holding a PACER WEEK every second week of every second month - next events:
- August 8
- October 10
- December 12

🚨🚨 CRITICAL ALERT! 🚨🚨

This week is PACER WEEK and we are still needing just one marshal ... without that marshal in place we will not be going ahead ... instead everyone's Saturday morning will consist of sleeping in, eating breakfast in pyjamas, and feeling a deep, profound sense of FOMO. And nobody wants that.

All we need is someone with the ability to point our parkrunners in the right direction, cheer and clap their hands, and yell words of encouragement like "Looking good!" or "Nearly there!". Plus, you get to wear a stunning, high-fashion red volunteer vest, earn a volunteer credit, and officially become the absolute hero who saved our Event #41 from not going ahead.

*Without these other roles being filled, that's okay, but it means we will probably end up with no volunteers for the weeks ahead and no one will get any photos ...

JUNE 13:
- Marshals x 1 - MANDATORY
- Photographer*
- Volunteer Recruiter*

If you can volunteer for any of these roles, please email:
[email protected] or comment below.

SWEATING ON VOLUNTEERS ...

RD Jayne is nervous ... this week is PACER WEEK and we are still needing a number of volunteers so our event can take place. As you can see, without these roles being filled, no one will get photos, no one will get a finish token or a result, and without marshals, we will not be going ahead ...

Volunteering at parkrun is not rocket science or brain surgery, no special skills are needed, just an hour of your time ... all of our roles are easy to learn, and we will provide training and support. We would love to have you join us!

JUNE 13:
- Volunteer Recruiter*
- Photographer*
- Marshals x 1 - mandatory
- Token Sorting*

If you can volunteer for any of these roles, please email:
[email protected] or comment below.

Like all parkrun events, we ALWAYS need and love more volunteers - parkrun RELIES on volunteers ... please have a look at what roles are available in the coming weeks:

- Timekeeper
- Barcode Scanners x 2

- Volunteer Recruiter*
- Photographer*
- Timekeeper

- Tail Walker* - mandatory
- Post-event Close Down*

*These roles also allow you to parkrun. A Tail Walker and four Marshals are required for each Reddall Reserve parkrun - if we do not have a minimum of four marshals, we will have to cancel.

BUSHY PARKRUN PILGRIMAGE!

Yesterday, a number of our Reddall Reserve parkrun participants - including Gary & Kim Baker, Sheena Young and Michael Miller made the pilgrimage to Bushy parkrun - the esteemed location where parkrun originated on Saturday, October 4, 2004.

They were joined by 1235 other parkrunners, including 224 first timers and 94 volunteers in wet and windy conditions!

Well done guys, looking forward to your return and hearing all about this experience!

MANY THANKS TO ALL OUR VOLUNTEERS!

The smiling faces you see in today's volunteer photos are ordinary people from our community β€” each with their own story, their own commitments, and their own reasons for putting their hand up to help. Some volunteer to give back, some to connect with others, some to support family and friends, and some simply because they love being part of parkrun. Whatever their reason, every single volunteer plays an important role. Without their time, enthusiasm and generosity, parkrun simply could not take place. They are the backbone of our event, helping create the welcoming, supportive and inclusive atmosphere that makes Reddall Reserve parkrun so special each week. To all of our amazing volunteers: thank you for everything you do. We appreciate you more than words can say.

Our deep thanks to: Aaron BOWDEN, Adrian KELSON, Adrian NECOVSKI, Andrew BANNER, Brendan SCOLLARY, David PAUL, Em SCOLLARY, Emma RAMSAY, Giselle BARBER, Isabelle BONIFACE, Jayne BACHELOR, Jess WRIGHT, Kate MCGUIGAN, Koppo KOPCIKAS, Lauren MEURANT, Lauren WHITE, Lionel BILLETT, Louise BANNER, Matt MEURANT, Melanie TRINCA, Rebecca BONIFACE, Sue KEANE, Tracey BILLETT and Viking WHELAN.

A special welcome to the parkrunner who volunteered for the first time: Daniel LEVER.

If you would like to volunteer at Reddall Reserve parkrun, please check out our future roster page at https://www.parkrun.com.au/reddallreserve/futureroster/ . All of our roles are easy to learn, and we will provide training and support. We would love to have you join us.
