Mikael, Julie, Tim, Bella and their Teddy Bear friends were donated to Knox Infolink today!

Each of these beautiful Teddy Bears were lovingly dressed and affectionately named by volunteers at our recent Volunteering Expo held at Knox City Council. They were part of a very special Teddy Bear Project initiated by Volunteer for Knox with the help of the Coonara Community House Sunny Room knitters!

This delivery of bears will go to children who could use a little hug in their life 🧸

Did you help dress one of our Teddy Bears at our Volunteering Expo this year?

Well you will be pleased to know that our first delivery of Teddies went to the amazing team at Champion- Community Hub and Meeting Place in our Neighbourhood. These ladies and the rest of the team of volunteers work tirelessly to provide a safe, inclusive space where the community can have access to:

🥦Pantry staples and fresh produce
🗣Vital resources and referrals to services

Today was a particularly hard day for the team so it was lovely to make this special delivery and put a smile on their faces. Some of the Teddies named Goldie, Mahjong, Jasmine, Jack and Jane are now going home with children in need of a special Teddy hug!

Cultural Competency

This session will build your knowledge of Aboriginal history and the impact of colonisation. This session, facilitated by the Koorie Heritage Trust, is suited to participants who may not have regular contact with Aboriginal peoples or communities but are interested in building their knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and peoples, from an Aboriginal perspective.

Ferntree Gully News are seeking an enthusiastic volunteer to help coordinate and keep records of approximately 50 volunteer newspaper walkers. The role involves spending a few days six times a year organising and delivering bundles of newspapers to walkers and designated pickup points.
