DO YOU HAVE A SAFE PHONE??? PLEASE READ AND SHARE

Australia's new national emergency warning system, AusAlert, is undergoing testing ahead of its official launch in October 2026.
A nationwide test of the system will occur at 2:00 PM AEST on Monday, 27 July 2026, with local testing happening in select areas throughout June. During this test, all compatible 4G and 5G mobile devices across the country will receive a loud, clearly labeled test message. For some people, this might give away hidden phones needed for safety reasons.

If recieving these alerts might compromise your safety, please reach out to us or another support service. We can work with you to get some safety plans in place.

📣📣 Have you heard about the new Coercive Control laws being introduced in the ACT? ‼️📣🤔

We are deeply concerned by the lack of community awareness and understanding of coercive control and these intended laws. We are also concerned about the potential consequences these laws may have.

Sisters is consulting with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women to understand and document what our community has heard about coercive control, and how this new law could be implemented to make Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women experiencing or at risk of Family and Domestic Violence feel safer.

If you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander woman in the ACT, we would be grateful if you could take a few minutes to complete our survey on these proposed laws. If you haven’t heard anything about these laws, or are confused- that is useful for us to know, too!

The insights you share in this survey will inform how we advocate for our women’s voices to be centred throughout the implementation process of these new laws.

Now THIS is some Deadly News!!!! ❤️🖤💛

Congratulations to Sisters in Spirit Patron, the Honourable Justice Louise Taylor, on her appointment as Chief Magistrate of the Australian Capital Territory.

A proud Kamilaroi woman, Justice Taylor’s appointment to the ACT Supreme Court in 2023 made history, marking the first appointment of an Aboriginal woman to a superior court anywhere in Australia. With her appointment as Chief Magistrate of “the people’s court”, Justice Taylor continues to make history and inspire. We are proud to know her, and grateful for all her support as our Patron.

Thank you, Justice Taylor, for all you do to represent and support our women – and for giving us something so awesome to celebrate this Friday!✨🎉🎊
