Today, members of the Townsville RSL Women's Auxiliary were proud to support Homelessness Week by enjoying a hot breakfast roll and a cuppa alongside our local community.

A sincere thank you to Althea's community hub, Red Cross, Mission Australia Coffee Ladies, and the Ignatius Park senior lads for their hard work in providing a wonderful breakfast and helping raise awareness of an important issue affecting many Australians.

Homelessness is not always visible. It can impact people from all walks of life and often remains hidden behind circumstances that many of us may never fully understand.

As an Auxiliary, we recognise the importance of community, compassion, and supporting organisations that provide hope, dignity, and practical assistance to those doing it tough. We are fortunate to have dedicated local services working tirelessly to support vulnerable members of our community.

Thank you to everyone involved in making today's event such a success and for continuing to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

❤️ Lest We Forget — and let us never forget the importance of caring for those in need within our community.

👖🌺 JEANS FOR GENES DAY 🌺👖

The ladies of the Townsville RSL Women's Auxiliary are proudly wearing our denim today in support of Jeans for Genes Day and the incredible work being done to improve the lives of children living with genetic conditions.

A little wartime denim history for our RSL family: During World War II, denim was a staple fabric for workers supporting the war effort in factories, shipyards and on farms. So much fabric was needed for military uniforms and equipment that clothing manufacturers were asked to simplify their designs, with some denim jeans losing features such as watch pockets and decorative stitching to help conserve materials.

More than 80 years later, denim remains a symbol of resilience, practicality and community spirit—values that continue to bring people together for worthy causes.

Today we're proud to wear our jeans while supporting research that gives hope to children and families across Australia.

💙 Every pair of jeans tells a story. 💙 Every donation helps make a difference. 💙 Together we can help create a brighter future.

Happy Jeans for Genes Day from the Townsville RSL Women's Auxiliary! 👖💙

Oh... And....
Go Cowboyzzzzz!!

🤭 Happy National I Forgot Day! 🤭

We all have those moments... walking into a room and forgetting why, leaving the shopping list at home, or remembering someone's birthday just a little too late!
National I Forgot Day is a gentle reminder that it's never too late to catch up on the little things. Make that phone call, send that message, write that thank you card, or simply reconnect with someone you've been meaning to check in on.

Life gets busy, and we all forget things from time to time—but kindness, friendship and community are always worth remembering.

From all of us at the Townsville RSL Women's Auxiliary, we hope today brings a smile, a laugh, and perhaps a chance to tick something off that you've been meaning to do.

💙 Because sometimes the best memories are made when we remember what really matters.

💙 Supporting Our Community Together 💙

The Townsville RSL Women's Auxiliary proudly presents donations to two wonderful local organisations – Blankets of Love and Althea's Community Hub.

These donations are only possible thanks to the ongoing support of our incredible Townsville RSL patrons who participate in our weekly Money Board. Every number purchased helps us continue supporting local charities and community groups that make a real difference in the lives of others.

Alongside our financial donation, Blankets of Love have requested materials to assist with their valuable work, and we are delighted to include these items as part of our contribution.

For Althea's Community Hub, we will also be donating a collection of toiletries to help stock their community supply cupboard, providing practical support for individuals and families doing it tough.

On behalf of all our members, we extend our sincere thanks to everyone who supports our fundraising efforts throughout the year. Your generosity allows us to continue giving back to the community we are proud to serve.

As always, we are reminded that even the smallest acts of kindness can have the greatest impact.

Today on International Nurses Day, we pause to honour the courage, compassion and quiet strength of nurses everywhere — past and present. 🌺

Throughout times of war, women served not only at home keeping families and communities together, but also on the front lines as military nurses. They cared for the wounded in unimaginable conditions, offered comfort in moments of fear and heartbreak, and stood beside our servicemen and women with unwavering dedication and kindness.

Many paid a great personal cost through long separations from loved ones, trauma, exhaustion and sacrifice — yet still answered the call to serve.
Today, we also recognise the nurses who continue to care for our veteran community and their families every single day. From hospitals and aged care facilities to GP clinics, homes and community services, nurses are often the reassuring voice, the helping hand and the compassionate heart that people remember most.

To every nurse — retired, serving, civilian or military — thank you for the care you give, the comfort you provide and the difference you make in the lives of others.

We especially send our gratitude and respect to those caring for veterans and their families across our community today. ❤️

Lest we forget the service of those who cared for others in times of war and peace alike.
