💙 Supporting Our Community Together 💙

Tomorrow evening, the Townsville RSL Women's Auxiliary will proudly present donations to two wonderful local organisations – Blankets of Love and Althea's Community Hub.

These donations are only possible thanks to the ongoing support of our incredible Townsville RSL patrons who participate in our weekly Money Board. Every number purchased helps us continue supporting local charities and community groups that make a real difference in the lives of others.

Alongside our financial donation, Blankets of Love have requested materials to assist with their valuable work, and we are delighted to include these items as part of our contribution.

For Althea's Community Hub, we will also be donating a collection of toiletries to help stock their community supply cupboard, providing practical support for individuals and families doing it tough.

On behalf of all our members, we extend our sincere thanks to everyone who supports our fundraising efforts throughout the year. Your generosity allows us to continue giving back to the community we are proud to serve.

As always, we are reminded that even the smallest acts of kindness can have the greatest impact.

Today on International Nurses Day, we pause to honour the courage, compassion and quiet strength of nurses everywhere — past and present. 🌺

Throughout times of war, women served not only at home keeping families and communities together, but also on the front lines as military nurses. They cared for the wounded in unimaginable conditions, offered comfort in moments of fear and heartbreak, and stood beside our servicemen and women with unwavering dedication and kindness.

Many paid a great personal cost through long separations from loved ones, trauma, exhaustion and sacrifice — yet still answered the call to serve.
Today, we also recognise the nurses who continue to care for our veteran community and their families every single day. From hospitals and aged care facilities to GP clinics, homes and community services, nurses are often the reassuring voice, the helping hand and the compassionate heart that people remember most.

To every nurse — retired, serving, civilian or military — thank you for the care you give, the comfort you provide and the difference you make in the lives of others.

We especially send our gratitude and respect to those caring for veterans and their families across our community today. ❤️

Lest we forget the service of those who cared for others in times of war and peace alike.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible mums and mother figures in our community today. 🌺

Today we especially think of the mothers who keep the home fires burning while their children serve our country far from home… and the mums who themselves leave their loved ones behind to defend the freedoms we so often take for granted.

We also send love to the step mums, adopted mums, surrogate mums, foster mums, fur mums, grandmothers, aunties and all the women who nurture, guide and care for others with a mother’s heart.

To those who are hoping to become mums one day… and to those who carry the quiet heartache of not being able to… please know you are thought of with kindness and compassion today.

May your day be peaceful and relaxing. We hope you are spoiled, loved, respected and remembered — not just today, but every day. ❤️

Today on World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, we pause to recognise the incredible kindness, compassion and humanitarian support provided by volunteers and workers across the world. ❤️

The values of the Red Cross — caring for others in times of hardship, offering comfort, dignity and hope — are values that resonate deeply within our veteran and RSL community.

Many veterans, families and older Australians know the importance of having someone there in difficult moments… a helping hand, a listening ear, a warm meal, or simply knowing that somebody cares.

Today we thank all those who quietly step forward to support others during emergencies, disasters, illness, loneliness and times of need. Your kindness truly changes lives.

To our veterans and their families, we hope today reminds you that even the smallest act of kindness can mean the world to someone doing it tough.
Lest we never forget the power of compassion, community and looking after one another. ❤️

Today, on National Domestic Violence Remembrance Day, we pause to remember those whose lives have been lost to domestic and family violence, and we stand beside survivors, families and communities carrying the weight of these experiences. 💜

As veterans, families and friends, many within our community understand the importance of feeling safe, supported and heard. Today is a reminder that kindness, compassion and speaking up can make a difference in someone’s life.

A candlelight vigil will be held tonight at the Perfume Gardens, offering our community a quiet place to reflect, remember and show support for those impacted by domestic and family violence.

We encourage everyone to take a moment today — light a candle, wear purple, check in on someone, or simply hold space for those doing it tough.

Today is a gentle reminder of the power of a smile, a chuckle, or even a quiet little giggle. Laughter truly is good for the soul — it connects us, lifts our spirits, and brightens even the toughest days.

We are thinking especially of our veterans and their families today — particularly those who may be spending the day alone or feeling a little low. Please know you are never far from our thoughts.
May something small today bring a smile to your face… a fond memory, a kind word, a silly joke, or a moment shared with someone special.

And if you can, share a laugh with someone — you never know just how much it might mean 💛

Today, we pause.

On this ANZAC Day, the Townsville RSL Women’s Auxiliary honours and remembers all those who have served, and those who continue to serve our country.
We lay our tribute in remembrance, with deep gratitude for the sacrifices made—by our servicemen and women, and by the families who stand beside them.
Wherever you are today, we hope you take a moment to reflect in your own way…

At a dawn service, at home, on your driveway as we once did, or quietly in your thoughts.
Today is not only about remembrance, but also about what we carry forward—

kindness, respect, and a deep appreciation for the peace and freedom we are privileged to live in.
