The Sir Roden & Lady Cutler Foundation provides free community transport for people who face difficulties accessing essential healthcare due to age, disability, illness or limited transport options.

Volunteer drivers help clients get to and from hospital appointments, specialist consultations, treatment and rehabilitation, ensuring transport is not a barrier to receiving the care they need.

Today we celebrated the tireless volunteers from the state’s far west, who bring comfort, connection and support to their rural communities and the surrounding districts.

Their remarkable contributions were recognised today at the 2026 Far West Volunteer of the Year Awards on the lands of the Wilyakali people of the Barkindji Nation at the Broken Hill Musicians Club.

We were honoured to meet all the volunteers at today’s event, but particularly breast cancer fundraiser, relentless campaigner, and Paint the Town Pink event organiser Leeann Clogg who was named the 2026 Far West volunteer of the Year.

Leeann has helped raise more than $300,000 to provide support to local breast cancer patients and their families such as travel and assistance payments, medical equipment and through their free wig bank.

Congratulations to all the nominees and award winners at today’s event:

Have you ever wondered what the dollar value of volunteering is?

In 2025, volunteering in NSW generated $205.3 billion in measurable benefits. The biggest share is individual benefits – worth $98.7 billion – which includes the personal satisfaction, purpose and wellbeing volunteers get from their participation.

Commercial benefits totalled $44.5 billion. Most of this ($41.7 billion) comes from the “productivity premium” – the workplace skills and performance boost that volunteers bring to their organisations.

Let’s hear it for the volunteers across the NSW Northern Rivers region - giving their all for their communities.

Their remarkable contributions were recognised today as part of the 2026 held on Bundjalung Country at Twin Towns Conference and Function Centre.

A big shout out to WardellCORE co-founder Joel Orchard who was named 2026 Northern Rivers Volunteer of the Year for his work building disaster resilience and supporting young farmers across the region.

And thank you and congratulations to all the other award recipients and nominees recognised at today’s ceremony.
