As part of their work placement, a year 10 group of VET Business Services students stepped inside The Youth Partnership to experience what it's really like to work in a purpose-driven organisation.
Throughout the day, students took on the role of business professionals, planning events, developing marketing campaigns, building employer engagement strategies, and pitching their ideas.
From creating social media content to designing a mock Partners in Excellence Awards event, students gained valuable insights into the skills needed in business, marketing, events, and community engagement.
The day was all about building confidence, developing workplace skills, and showing students the many pathways available beyond the classroom.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in making the day a success. We can't wait to see where these future professionals go next! 🌟

What a month May has been! 👏

Over the past month, our team has been out and about supporting students, visiting schools, organising and facilitating group work placements, taking part in an Industry Immersion Week, and meeting with new host employers joining our Work Placement Program.

It's been a month full of conversations, connections and opportunities, all aimed at helping young people gain valuable insights into the world of work.

A big thank you to the schools, students, employers and industry partners who continue to welcome us into their communities and workplaces. We couldn't do it without you.

Here's to another busy month ahead!

A huge thank you to GPA (Global Payroll Alliance) for delivering an inspiring Group Work Placement Program in Financial Services for students across our service region of schools. We were proud to have 50 students participate in this valuable opportunity, gaining real-world insight into the financial services industry, workplace skills, and future career pathways.

A special thank you to all the guest speakers for sharing their knowledge, experiences, and advice with our students, and to UTS Ultimo for generously sponsoring the room and supporting this meaningful event. We would also like to extend a massive thank you to Nilufer Gul from GPA, who has led and coordinated the week-long placement program, creating such a valuable and engaging experience for all students involved.

Programs like these continue to create powerful connections between education and industry, helping students become future-ready.

This morning’s AGM and quarterly Board meeting was a valuable opportunity for our Board and Management team to reflect on the strong start to the year and celebrate the people who help guide and support our organisation.

We are pleased to share that all existing Board members have been re-elected, continuing their commitment, leadership and support of our mission. We also welcomed one change in position within the Board, with Robyn Williams accepting the role of Deputy Chair. We thank Steve Atherton for his time and contribution in this position and appreciate his continued commitment as a valued Board member.

A special highlight of the morning was celebrating our CEO, Diana Lang, on her incredible 20 years with the organisation. Diana’s dedication, passion and leadership continue to make a lasting impact across our team, partners and the young people we support.

The Board acknowledged the powerful start to the year across the organisation, with many successes achieved while navigating extended volumes of work placements and increasing demand. The commitment and resilience shown across the wider team has been instrumental in continuing to deliver positive outcomes for young people and employers.

Thank you to our Board for your ongoing guidance, encouragement and commitment to our shared vision.

What an amazing week Industry Immersion has been!

After an exciting start to the week, our students continued exploring a range of industries and workplaces across the community.

On Wednesday, students visited Think Quick Theatre, where they learned about the business and took part in interactive teamwork activities focused on engaging the teenage market.
Thursday saw students at The Brighton Hotel Sydney participating in marketing and sustainability activities, while also hearing from the recruitment team about opportunities and pathways within the hospitality industry.
To wrap up the week on Friday, students will visit SGSCC (Sutherland & St George Community Group), where they will meet with employers, join a panel discussion, and collaborate on a group project designed to encourage communication, teamwork, and future thinking.

A massive thank you to all the organisations that welcomed our students this week and helped provide such valuable industry experiences and career inspiration.

Industry Immersion Week is officially underway this week!

Over the first two days, the students have already had some incredible hands-on experiences exploring different industries, workplaces, and career pathways.

On Monday, students visited ANSTO, where they toured the facility, participated in a Q&A session with staff, and worked together on a design thinking project that challenged their creativity and problem-solving skills.

Today, students are spending the day with Sutherland Shire Council, learning how the many different departments and teams work together to support the local community and keep the Shire running smoothly.

A huge thank you to our industry partners for giving students valuable real-world insights and experiences throughout the week.

We can’t wait to see what the rest of the week brings!

It was great to speak with students about career pathways and how we support young people in taking the next step toward their future.
