Bird flu has been detected in Victoria

We live next to a Swan Bay, a Ramsar wetland, and our Salt Lagoon, both home to many species of birds, many migratory.

If you notice sick or dead birds or other animals showing signs of bird flu, you should not touch them or get too close.

Avoid contact and keep your distance, including dogs. Please don’t feed wild birds, and keep bird baths clean.

Record the date, time, location and take photos.

Report it to the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888.

St Leonards!

You might notice some new plant guards along the foreshore trail between the boat ramp and Red Bluff.

Thanks to Bellarine Bayside and over 25 members of our community, young and old, we managed to plant almost 500 plants in one morning, celebrating National Tree Day, ending with a very welcome BBQ. Community Planting Day this Sunday

Join us on National Tree Day this Sunday, at St Leonards opposite Trewin Street. Park in the Gilbert street car park.

We will be there cooking up a great BBQ at the end to reward our efforts. Please not that we have had a location change from Lower Bluff to Gilbert St Carpark, under the Cyprus trees.

Bring the whole family, pull on your boots, and grab your gardening gloves as we work together to help restore a threatened patch of coastal plants.
After the planting, stay and enjoy a free BBQ lunch with fellow volunteers.
We'd love to see you there!

A cold start to a successful morning removing woody weeds including Flax Leaf room, tea tree and Pittosporum from the reserve behind the St Leonards Yacht Club with Bellarine Bayside.

Many hands large and small make a significant impact. 👏 A big thank you to our new and not so new volunteers.

It was disappointing to discover several large piles of dumped bulbs such as freesia which were dug up, bagged and removed.

It’s amazing what can be achieved in a short time frame. This morning with Bellarine Bayside we weeded flax leaf broom and Pittosporum from the reserve behind the St Leonards yacht club. Both plants are garden escapees. Three big piles collected.

St Leonards, we need your voice.

The State Government’s Bellarine Bus Review is now open, and as a small community we can’t afford to sit this one out.

Larger towns like Ocean Grove, Drysdale and Portarlington – and even Greater Geelong – will naturally generate more submissions. That’s why every single response from St Leonards genuinely counts.

If you want:
- A direct bus to Drysdale, or Drysdale to Ocean Grove
- Safe footpaths and proper bus shelters for our school kids
especially along Murradoc Road ,
- A bus timetable that actually meets the ferry,
- More frequent buses

…then please take five minutes to complete the survey and make sure St Leonards is heard.
