SPOT A COLOUR, START A CONVERSATION

Sometimes the hardest part of meeting someone new is finding the excuse to do it. This week we're handing you one. Life gets heavy, the weeks blur together, and before you know it you've gone days without a real conversation.

A walk and a simple moment of connection can shift that more than you'd think. There's something in the act of noticing another person, really noticing them, that cuts through the noise. Side-by-side, no pressure, no agenda.

Just people showing up for each other. THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE Find someone wearing a colour you like and introduce yourself. That's it. One sentence. "Hey, I like that shirt."

You'd be surprised where it goes from there. NEW FACES, YOU'RE MORE THAN WELCOME You don't need to book. You don't need to know anyone. You don't need to be going through something heavy to show up. Come as you are, wear whatever's in the clean pile, and let someone's bright jacket be the icebreaker for you.

πŸ“ Meet: 5:30 pm Eden Blue Mountains for a coffee and a chat. 🚢 Walk 6pm Start.

One Question. One Walk. One Shift You Didn't See Coming.

There's a moment it happens for most people. You've done a few walks, you've shown up even when you didn't feel like it, and somewhere between the footpath and the fresh air, something quietly shifts.

The way you think about your own head starts to change. That's the question we're putting out to our regulars this week: "How has your perspective on mental health changed since you started walking?"

Because real answers from real people, no fluff, no textbook stuff, are worth more than anything we could put in a brochure. If you're new, or thinking about showing up for the first time, here's what you need to know. No booking. No pressure to talk. Just a group of people moving side-by-side, and the option to say as much or as little as you want. You might find your own perspective starts shifting sooner than you think.

πŸ“ Meet: 5:30pm at Eden Blue Mountains for a coffee and a chat. 🚢 Walk: 6pm Start. If you've been on the fence, this is your week to just show up and listen. And if you're a regular, we'd love to hear your answer.

ON A SCALE OF 1 TO 10, HOW ARE YOU REALLY FEELING?

Not the "yeah nah I'm fine" answer. The real one.

Most of us walk around carrying a number we never say out loud. Could be a 4. Could be a 6. Could be a 2 that we've been telling everyone is an 8. Life has a way of piling on quietly β€” work, money, family, the stuff that sits heavy at 2am β€” and before you know it, you're running on empty and wondering why.

That's exactly why we show up every single week. Not to fix anything. Not to have all the answers. Just to walk side-by-side with people who get it, and let the feet do what the brain struggles to do on its own.

This week, when you rock up, your number is welcome. A 3, a 7, a "honestly I don't even know" β€” all of it belongs here. You don't have to share it. But if you do, you won't be judged for it.

New faces are always welcome. No bookings, no pressure, no need to say a word if you'd rather just walk. Just show up and fall into step with us. That's it.

Find Someone New This Week and Ask Them One Simple Question

Life has a way of piling things up. Work, bills, family, the mental load of just keeping everything moving. Sometimes the best thing you can do is step outside, put one foot in front of the other, and talk to someone who gets it.

This week we've got a simple challenge for you. Find someone on the walk you haven't spoken to before and ask them: "What's your go-to way to de-stress after a long day?" You might be surprised what comes back. You might even pick up something useful. And at the very least, you'll have made a connection that didn't exist an hour earlier.

That's what walking side-by-side does. It opens doors that sitting across from someone never could.

New faces, you are absolutely welcome here. No need to book, no need to talk if you don't feel like it, and zero judgment about where you're at right now. Just show up in whatever you've got on and fall into step with us. It's that simple.

One Question Can Change Someone's Whole Day

Mid-week can hit hard. The to-do list is piling up, the mental load is real, and it's easy to get stuck in your own head. Sometimes all it takes is one simple question to shift the weight a little.

This week on the walk, we're asking the person next to us: "What's the best thing that happened to you this week?" It sounds small. It isn't. That one question opens a door, and you'd be surprised what walks through it when people feel safe enough to answer honestly.

If you've been thinking about coming along but haven't made it yet, this week is a great time to show up. No need to book, no pressure to share anything you're not ready for, and no judgment if the honest answer to that question is "I'm still looking for it." You'll walk side-by-side with people who get it, and sometimes that's enough.

This week is national volunteer week. A commitment someone can make without consideration of cost or reward to self.

Being a not for profit registered charity, run by volunteers, we can not say thank you enough to all our walk coordinators, in our 17 walks across NSW. Additionally, those in the background who have sacrificed time and resources that helped create what Walk it Off is to date.

It truly is a working example of how change starts with a conversation.

WHEN DID YOU LAST TELL SOMEONE THEY MATTER?

Life moves fast. Bills pile up, work doesn't stop, and the people around us who hold us together often go unnoticed. This week we're keeping it simple: tell one person in your life one thing you genuinely appreciate about them. That's it. No grand gesture, just an honest word between two people. You'd be surprised what that can do for both of you.

This week we're walking side-by-side and leaning into that idea together. Because sometimes the best conversations happen when you're moving, not sitting across a table trying to find the right words.

New faces, you are more than welcome. No need to book, no need to talk if you're not feeling it, and absolutely no judgment. Just show up, fall in step, and see how it feels. Bring a mate if you want to, or come on your own and meet one here.

One Question. One Conversation. One Step Forward.

Mid-week can feel like you're stuck in the thick of it. Work piling up, the mental load of life doing its thing, and somehow the week is already half gone. Sometimes all it takes to shift the weight is one good question asked out loud, side-by-side with someone who gets it.

This week, we're keeping it simple. Find a fellow walker and ask them: "What is one thing you're looking forward to this month?" That's it. No deep dive required. Just a question, a walk, and a bit of fresh air doing its thing.

If you've been thinking about showing up for the first time, this is your week. No booking, no pressure to talk, no judgment. Just roll up, grab a coffee, and fall into step beside us. We've got legends of all kinds who show up every single week, and there's always room for one more.

Reminder: ✨ We're incredibly lucky to have Master Andrew from Wolves Martial Arts joining us in Springwood this week. With 40+ years of martial arts and mindset coaching experience, including time spent in remote temples, Andrew brings a truly unique perspective on self-discovery, resilience, and empowerment.

This is one of those walks where the conversation might just stay with you long after you've headed home. πŸ™

FIND YOUR PEOPLE. FIND YOUR PACE.

Here is something worth thinking about this week: somewhere in your town, there is someone who loves exactly what you love. Same hobby, same passion, maybe even the same frustration that life keeps getting in the way of doing it. The problem is, most of us never find them because we are too busy grinding through the week with our heads down.

That is where the walk comes in. When you are moving side-by-side with someone, conversations happen naturally. No awkward silences, no pressure to perform, just two people putting one foot in front of the other. You might discover the person next to you fishes the same stretch of river, follows the same footy team, or has been meaning to get back into the same thing you have been putting off for months.

This week's challenge is simple: show up to the walk and find one person who shares a hobby with you. That is it. One conversation. One connection.

If you have never come along before, there is nothing to organise. No booking, no agenda, no need to say a single word if you are not feeling it. Just show up, grab a coffee, and walk. New faces are always welcome here.

WHEN DID YOU LAST CHECK IN ON THAT MATE?

You know the one. The bloke or the woman who used to be around all the time, then life just... got busy. For both of you. No drama, no fallout. Just the slow drift that happens when the days pile up and the weeks start blurring together.

Here's the thing. That drift is exactly where things get heavy. The mental load builds quietly, and before long people are carrying it alone without even realising how long it's been since someone just said "hey, thinking of you." It doesn't take much to change that.
This week, before the walk, pull out your phone and send that text. No agenda. No need for a big conversation. Just let someone know they're not out of sight, out of mind.

Then come and walk it off with us. New faces are always welcome here. No need to book, no pressure to share anything, no expectations. Just show up, fall into step beside someone, and see what happens when you move side-by-side instead of sitting across from each other. It's a different kind of conversation, and you might be surprised how easy it feels.
