Gold Coast City Wind Orchestra

A community focused orchestra whose membership is a vibrant mix of musicians brought together by their shared passion for music.

The aim of the Orchestra is to provide a medium for musicians on
the Gold Coast to perform and to use their combined talents to entertain. The Orchestra is community focused and does not hold auditions. Membership is a vibrant mix of musicians ranging widely in age, experience and backgrounds all brought together by their shared passion for music. The Orchestra exists for the benefit of its members, and all members are encourages to actively partici- pate in its development and future growth.

The Gold Coast City Wind Orchestra is back rehearsing in 2026, welcoming our new Director of Music, Vaughan!

We also thank and give our best wishes to our outgoing and inaugural Director of Music, Alan, as he takes care of his health.

If you're a player looking for a musical challenge in a friendly environment, join us on Monday nights from 7-9pm, or if you're a beginner or returning musician, join us on Monday afternoons from 4:30-6pm for Development Band.

The Gold Coast City Wind Orchestra is looking for our next Director of Music.

Founded in 2002, the GCCWO is a well run and well equipped community concert band with about 70 members, and the current A-Grade Queensland State Champion Concert Band. Due to the imminent retirement of our founding Director, Alan White, we are searching for a new Director of Music, to start in early 2026. The Director's role is to plan and run rehearsals, select the music the Orchestra will perform at concerts, and provide technical and artistic guidance to raise the standard of the Orchestra.

The Orchestra rehearses weekly on Monday nights at Runaway Bay Youth Centre from 7pm to 9pm. While we would strongly prefer to keep this rehearsal schedule, we understand that change may be necessary to match the schedule of the right candidate.
