Well deserved for one of the most deserving bravest strongest young fellas there is.

Perth teenager Austin Appelbee, who swam 4 kilometres in rough ocean conditions to save his family after they were swept out to sea, has been awarded a prestigious bravery medal.

The teenager was awarded the Clarke Gold Medal for bravery by the Royal Humane Society of Australasia, an Australian charity that has recognised people who risk their lives to save others since 1874.

Yesterday we had an awesome joint training day with Surf Life Saving Australia
With 36 people involved, fantastic opportunity to bring together skills, knowledge and experience from right across the country.
16 members from Perth & the South West
20 members from other states across Australia

Thank you to Naturaliste Balustrades for organising and supplying the stainless steel benchtop, Southwest Solid Surfaces Pty LTD for the stone benchtop on our brand new drinks station, Bayside Plumbing for taking care of the plumbing, and WNH Electrical for all the electrical work. ⚡️
And of course, we couldn’t have done it without all our amazing members who got stuck in with the demolition of the old bar and the cleanup afterwards. 💪🏼
We really appreciate everyone who donated their time, skills, materials and hard work to help make it happen.

The 2026 WA Fire and Emergency Services (WAFES) Conference. Our very own commander invited to take the stage this year not sure who gave him a mic but a weekend full of engaging programs tours, presentations, workshops and talks from keynote speakers helping attendees build on their knowledge and skills in emergency services.
