HAVE YOUR SAY ON THE COUNCIL BUDGET - CLOSES TODAY AT 5PM!!!

I've lodged my submission on Alexandrina Council's Draft Annual Community Plan and Long-Term Financial Plan.
Some of the questions I've asked include:
• Is the current staff audit truly independent and what is it costing?
• What return are ratepayers getting from a $500,000 Economic Development unit?
• Why isn't there greater transparency around the ongoing cost of the FRWA asbestos issue?
• Where is the commitment to implementing the Horseshoe Bay coastal adaptation work now that the studies are complete?
• What progress will actually be made on Middleton flood mitigation?
• Should Council be selling surplus land and property to reduce debt before acquiring more?
The budget isn't just about rates. It's about priorities.

If you care about roads, flooding, trees, beaches, housing, libraries, sporting facilities or how your rates are spent, please take a few minutes to make a submission.

The more people who participate, the stronger the community's voice.
Don't leave it to someone else.
Have your say.

Please help the NRWC by responding to our 3minute survey on your experiences in the affordability of accessing specialist medial healthcare.
Rural women can experience high out of pocket expenses to attend specialist medical appointments, including travel and childcare requirements on top of lack of choice and long wait times.

The National Rural Women's Coalition is responding to the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Health, Aged Care and Disability's inquiry into access and affordability of medical specialists in Australia and we need your help to ensure rural, regional, remote and remote experiences are better understood.

Jetties are an important part of the South Australian coast and communities.

We are calling for stronger state investment in jetty maintenance and renewal.

We are asking the state government to commit to:

👉 An 80/20 funding partnership, with the state government contributing 80 percent and local government 20 percent

👉 An increase in state jetty funding from $5 million to $10 million per year

A stronger funding partnership will help councils maintain safe and resilient jetties for communities and visitors.

Help protect our jetties. Add your name to the pledge today at: https://www.lga.sa.gov.au/about/what-we-do/advocacy/jetties

I have long held this concern, particularly with the lack of enforcement available after ESCOSA reviews. Motherhood acknowledgement does not equal to real change and meanwhile the ratepayers remain the bank. Please sign and share!
