The dates that bookend National Reconciliation Week commemorate two milestones in Australia's reconciliation journey. May 27 marks the anniversary of the 1967 referendum, while June 3 commemorates the historic 1992 High Court Mabo decision, recognising native title.

In support of Reconciliation Week, I'm focussing on First Nations music on the Wide Open Road this week. I'm playing music mostly from the last year or two, the majority of it from new and emerging artists, such as:

Being National Volunteer Week, it's a good time to acknowledge and thank our team of volunteers (presenters, admin, tech and production), who keep our radio station on air. We are 100% volunteer run.

We're just one of numerous community organisations and charities in our region, who wouldn't be able to function without the support of volunteers. Volunteers really are at the heart of our community.
