Additionally we have an exciting announcement to share from the Midwinter Hunt Steward:

For those of you who missed our cut off for the feast but would still like to come along and shoot things, we are now offering a Day Attendance option at $10 per person flat rate (relevant insurance additions for non-members: extra $10 for adults, extra $5 for minors) has been added to the event booking form. While day attendance does not require a booking it does help for us to have an idea of how many people we can expect.

Thank you all and we look forward to seeing you this weekend.

Yours in service
Lady Sorcha

36 hours left until bookings close for Midwinter Hunt! Midnight tomorrow (Wednesday) is the cut off, so if you haven't booked yet, you're running out of time!

Our Baron & Baroness love giving out awards at events & are really looking forward to giving some out at Midwinter hunt... but for that to happen they need recommendations!

If you know of someone around the Barony or the College that you think should be recognised in court, let Baron Jon & Baroness Margie know at [email protected] . If you've never written an award recommendation & don't know where to start, there's a handy guide at the link in our bio!

For full details on the Midwinter Hunt, please see our website or Facebook Event page.

With just over 2 days left to book for Midwinter Hunt, we want to talk about the feast!

While we can't tell you the menu (that's still being tweaked as dietary requirements come in!), we CAN tell you about our feast cooks! Maryan’s been attending events and activities in the SCA for two years, Margie for over thirty-two! And for both it is their first time co-stewarding a feast!

Both Maryan & Margie are regular contributors to our Crafthall potluck dinners, so if you've ever joined us for that, you KNOW how good the food at Midwinter Hunt is going to be! If you haven't... well, here's some photos of what they've fed us in the past! Are you feeling hungry yet? Good! Now book for the hunt or you won't be able to join the feast!

For full details, please see our website (link in bio) or Facebook Event page.

While out tracking the deer ahead of Midwinter Hunt, our Archery Champion Sorcha noticed signs that Raiders have been scouting our food stores! We may need more archers for this hunt than we originally expected!

Fortunately for those travelling via public transport, the Dolphin's Keep (24 Mons Parade, Noble Park), where our post-hunt feast & celebrations will be held, is only a few minutes walk from Noble Park Train Station! Likewise our archery range is only a few minutes walk from the Keep as well! If you need assistance getting to & from the train station (or from the archery range to the Dolphin's Keep), please let us know when booking & we'll do our best to help.

Bookings for Midwinter Hunt close in FOUR DAYS! Our cooks need to know numbers (& dietary restrictions!) in order to feed everyone, so make sure you book ASAP!

For full details, please see our website or Facebook Event page.

Winter is coming to Krae Glas & with it comes our long-awaited Midwinter Hunt!

🏹 On Sunday the 21st June, led by our Archery Champion Lady Sorcha ingen ui Chainnigh, we set off on our Midwinter Hunt to take down the giant deer that's been roaming our lands! In addition to hunting the deer & other game, we'll also be doing some foraging & once we have enough supplies for dinner, we'll head back to the Keep for feasting, dancing, an Arts & Sciences competition (2 themes: Creatures of the Wild & Hunting/Travelling supplies) & general merriment & celebrations!

We will begin the day at our archery range (Noble Park Secondary College) with opening court at 12:30 followed by various archery challenges & a foraging challenge, before retiring to The Dolphin's Keep (24 Mon's Parade, Noble Park) around 4pm for the evening's entertainment. Bookings close on the 10th, so make sure to book soon!

🏹 To prepare for the hunt, this month's Crafthall (Fletching & Cloakmaking) + Potluck will have TWO classes instead of just one! From 2pm on Saturday the 13th (also at the Dolphin's Keep), Sorcha will be running a Fletching class to coach you through making a combat-legal arrow & Lord Robert De Mar will be running a Cloakmaking class to show you how to make a simple & cozy hooded cloak! Coincidentally, as cloaks & arrows are both Hunting & Travelling supplies, if you are especially proud of your finished work, you could enter them into the Arts & Sciences competition at the Hunt!

As always, there will be a community Potluck for dinner afterwards (around 5-6pm or when dinner is ready). If you haven't been to one of these before, the food is always excellent & as 2 of our regular Crafthall Potluck contributors (Baroness Margie & Maryan Applewood) are also cooking the Hunt feast, this dinner may give you a little taste of what you can look forward to at the Hunt!

For the Cloakmaking class you will need to bring two types of fabric, an outer layer & an inner layer, as well as matching thread. For each layer, the fabric should be at least 1m wide & double-your-height in length. We recommend wool or a wool blend as an outer layer for both warmth & protection against rain, while the inner layer should be something you like the feel of against your skin.

For the Fletching class, materials to make combat-legal arrows will be provided at a cost of $10 per arrow made. If you wish to bring your own supplies, you will need (for each arrow) a cedar shaft, a nock, three fletches, tape and a combat blunt.

If you are able to bring a sewing machine or fletching jig for use in this month's classes, please do so!

🏹 Our monthly Council meeting will be held via Zoom on Tuesday the 16th. Zoom details will be released closer to the date.

🏹 On Thursday the 4th our Fibre Guild will have it's monthly meetup at the first Thursday Night Gathering & Training session of the month! All fans of fibrecrafts are welcome to bring their current projects (or anything you want to show off) & come along for a chat! Doors open at 7 & Fibre Guild usually starts around 7:30 in the back room, while the main hall is used for training.

Every other week, our Thursdays continue as usual, with both heavy & rapier training (& casual socialising) happening from 7pm every week at the Dolphin's Keep on the 11th, 18th & 25th.

🏹 While our Crafthall & Thursday nights are "come as you are", Midwinter Hunt is a garbed event, so please wear your best attempt at pre-17th Century clothing. If you need to borrow something to wear, please reach out to our Chatelaine Bermund at [email protected] so he can help you out.

For more information on any of our events this month, please see the relevant Facebook Event pages or our website.

With all the chaos of Renfair, we almost forgot to announce our big news!

As is tradition, the King's permission must be sought before hunting deer in his land, so, 2 weeks ago at Royal Brunch, we did just that.

After much careful thought & consulting with our gracious Queen, the King decreed that we may indeed hunt the deer our Archery Champion Sorcha has been tracking!

The Midwinter Hunt is set for just under a month away, so remember to book, so that our feast stewards know to cater for you!

Need arrows or a warm cloak for the hunt? Stay tuned for an exciting announcement about next Crafthall soon!

For more information, please see the Facebook Event page or our website (link in bio).
