Thanks to the many dozens of people who came into our Aquaponics Study Centre during the Botanical Bazaar today at Country Paradise - Nerang. To those interested in learning more, we will be running a couple of education sessions shortly, during Saturday afternoons. Please watch here for the dates. We also welcome new members who want to learn 'hands-on' - especially useful if you are thinking about creating your own aquaponics and/or wicking bed systems at home.

If you need some beautiful little, medium or large Australian Jade Perch, barramundi or crayfish for your aquaponics, aquarium or pond, give these guys a call.

They are local and have been a big part of getting our Study Centre to where it is today 👍

A first prototype of a portable aquaponics system, mainly to demonstrate its basic components, including pumps and a simple flood and drain siphon.

This was built and first used last week at an education session. Here the flood cycle timings are measured based on changing the pumping 'head' between 500mm and 700mm.

The next prototype will use a more robust fish tank, and also have a sump tank added to the bottom of the stack. It will also show a range of grow media in the grow-bed. The battery will live in the box that is beneath the grow-bed. It is recharged from mains and/or a small solar panel.

Check out these sustainable indigenous root vegetables. I wonder whether we could try growing these.

Producers in WA are banking on native vegetables, like the youlk and the kulyu, replacing staples like carrots and potatoes on the Australian dinner table.
