Liberty Community Connect Liberty Community Connect supports older people to live well, stay connected and remain independent. Liberty is a not for profit registered charity.

We provide aged care services, social programs and community support that promote choice, wellbeing, inclusion and meaningful connections. In response to unmet needs within the community, Liberty Community Connect (formerly Nerang Community Respite Care Association) was established in 1989 by Father Pat Tynan of St Brigid’s Catholic Parish. Providing community services throughout the Gold Coast fo

r over 30 years. Liberty is passionate about the wellbeing of clients, their carers and their families. We ensure their individual needs are met through choice and opportunities that empower them to be socially connected and to make the most of their abilities. Our aim is to inspire people to live a life of their choice by providing support based on their individual needs. We support them to be socially connected within the Gold Coast community, and to remain living independently in their homes. In our 30th year as an organisation, we now provide close to 20 flexible programs to our client base of over 700 people and employ a passionate and dedicated team of 40 staff and 40 volunteers. We receive funding from the Commonwealth Home Support Program and we manage a diverse range of service under Home Care Packages and support under NDIS. We are also thankful for the grants, donations, bequests and sponsorships we receive. We are about doing all that we can to make sure all people are Livin’ Well.

What a week at Liberty! 💛

Our Community Connections crew has been out and about enjoying fresh air, beautiful Gold Coast scenery, games, quizzes, plenty of laughs and even a cycling adventure with Cycling Without Age.

We stopped for lunch at Merrimac Tavern, explored Paradise Point and Cascade Gardens, and finished the week in a sea of yellow for Daffodil Day. 🌼

It’s never just about where we go. It’s the friendships, shared experiences and sense of belonging that make these days so special.

A familiar face, a shared cuppa, a weekly outing or simply knowing someone will notice when you’re not there?

Friendship doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it’s simply having someone beside you who makes life feel a little lighter.

At Liberty, we see friendships grow through shared experiences, conversations, outings and plenty of laughter. It’s one of the most special parts of our community.

🌼 WEAR YELLOW FOR DAFFODIL DAY 🌼

On Thursday 20th August, we’re turning Liberty yellow for Daffodil Day!

For 40 years, Daffodil Day has brought Australians together to support people affected by cancer and help fund life-saving research.

The daffodil is a symbol of hope, strength and brighter days ahead. Cancer has touched so many of our families, friends and communities, so this is one small way we can stand together and show our support.

Wear a splash of yellow, go head-to-toe sunshine, add a flower or find your brightest accessories. Subtle or spectacular, it all counts! 💛

Let’s fill Liberty with yellow and help grow hope for everyone affected by cancer.

💛 August is Friendship Month at Liberty 💛

With Loneliness Awareness Week and Friendship Day both shining a light on the importance of connection, we decided one day or one week simply wasn’t enough.

So, we’re making the whole of August about friendship.

Friendship can be a cuppa and a chat, sharing a laugh, joining a group, checking in on someone or simply knowing you’re not alone.

✨ Our challenge to the community: reach out to someone this week. Invite them for a cuppa, make the phone call, say hello to a neighbour or bring someone along to a local activity. One small gesture could make a much bigger difference than you realise.

Today we're celebrating the incredible people who make Liberty what it is.

To every member of our support worker and operations team, thank you for the care, compassion, patience and kindness you show our clients every single day. Whether you're supporting someone in their home, driving a community bus, coordinating services, answering the phone or working behind the scenes, you all play an important part in helping people live well at home, stay connected and remain in control of the life they choose.

As a small token of our appreciation, our team received a little gift today. It doesn't come close to matching the difference you make, but we hope it reminds you just how valued you are.
