Liberty Community Connect Our activities are committed to facilitating choice for people. Providing community services throughout the Gold Coast for over 30 years.

Offers a diverse range of community supports, we focus on combating the rigors of loneliness and isolation by creating opportunities to socialize and proactively engage in the community. In response to unmet needs within the community, Liberty Community Connect (formerly Nerang Community Respite Care Association) was established in 1989 by Father Pat Tynan of St Brigid’s Catholic Parish. s passionate about the wellbeing of clients, their carers and their families. We ensure their individual needs are met through choice and opportunities that empower them to be socially connected and to make the most of their abilities. Our aim is to inspire people to live a life of their choice by providing support based on their individual needs. We support them to be socially connected within the Gold Coast community, and to remain living independently in their homes. In our 30th year as an organisation, we now provide close to 20 flexible programs to our client base of over 700 people and employ a passionate and dedicated team of 40 staff and 40 volunteers. Liberty is a not for profit registered charity. We receive funding from the Commonwealth Home Support Program and we manage a diverse range of service under Home Care Packages and support under NDIS. We are also thankful for the grants, donations, bequests and sponsorships we receive. We are about doing all that we can to make sure all people are Livin’ Well.

This week we want to take a moment to recognise and thank all of our amazing volunteers here at Liberty.

Your kindness, patience, support and willingness to give your time to others makes such a difference to the lives of our clients every single day. Whether it’s helping with activities, transport, conversations, outings or simply bringing a smile to someone’s face — your contribution never goes unnoticed.

You are such an important part of the Liberty family and we truly appreciate everything you do to help create a welcoming, caring and connected community for our clients.

We’ve had a really special week welcoming some new friends from Carrara Community Centre 💙

It was a pleasure to meet Vicki, one of their dedicated volunteers, and Jelena, who manages the centre. Together they are a dynamic duo with a real passion for community connection and supporting local people to get involved, stay active, and feel included.

Carrara Community Centre is a well-known local hub on the Gold Coast, offering a welcoming space for a wide range of activities, events, and community groups. It’s a place that really brings people together.

We were very excited to have Vicki and Jelena visit us for our Open Day last Thursday. There was plenty of conversation, laughter, and great ideas shared about how we can work together moving forward.

I was personally very happy to meet these ladies as I begin to hand the reins over to Tori to continue building and strengthening these new relationships.

We’re really looking forward to what’s ahead and exploring opportunities to run activities both at Carrara Community Centre and here at Liberty. Exciting times ahead 😊

Giant Monopoly days are always a hit 🎲

Everyone really enjoys getting involved, rolling the big dice and playing alongside their friends. There’s plenty of laughs, a bit of friendly competition, and lots of chatting along the way.

It’s a great way for our clients to spend time together and just enjoy each other’s company. We love seeing everyone so engaged and having fun.

Today the team took our clients down to the beach, and it was a great reminder of how powerful a simple outing can be. Fresh air, open space, and the sound of the surf created the perfect setting for everyone to relax and enjoy themselves.

There’s something about the beach—the sand under your feet, the waves rolling in, the breeze off the water—that brings a real sense of freedom. People were more relaxed, more social, and just enjoying being out together.

A simple day out, done well. 🌊
