A quick update regarding our current art exhibition!

You may have seen in this week’s Murtoa Advertiser that artist Molly was planning to be at the Shed this Saturday. Unfortunately, Molly has now headed home and will no longer be joining us.

The good news is that the artwork from both Molly and Julie are still available to view! 🎨✨

We invite you to come along this Saturday, explore the exhibition, and enjoy the wonderful artwork on display inside our incredible heritage-listed Stick Shed.

🔎 Can You Help Solve a Piece of Murtoa Stick Shed History?

We’re putting out a call to anyone with knowledge of historic boilers, steam engines or industrial machinery!

Recently, Frank Tucker from the Riverboat Society in Mildura visited the Murtoa Stick Shed. When he saw photographs of the original boiler that powered the Shed, it reminded him of a boiler they have on the river in Mildura.

We know the original Murtoa Stick Shed boiler was cut up in Ballarat in the 1960s, so sadly, we’ll never get to see the original again. However, the boiler Frank spotted appears to have a similar design and construction.

💡Could they be the same model, or perhaps related in some way?

We’d love to hear from anyone who knows about historic boilers, has experience with steam machinery, or can help us identify the design and manufacturer.

While we know we may never recover the original, finding a *relative* of the Stick Shed’s original boiler would be a wonderful way to reconnect with this part of our history.

🚗 A little bit of motoring history meets a whole lot of history!

We were delighted to welcome the Central Victorian Morris Minor Car Club to The Stick Shed for a visit!

It was wonderful to see these classic cars out and about, bringing their own piece of history to our very own piece of Australian heritage. ❤️

The Stick Shed is a unique destination for history lovers, car enthusiasts and curious travellers alike, and we always love welcoming groups who take the time to visit and experience this incredible place.

Molly Galpin will be at the Stick Shed tomorrow(sat) and Sunday to talk about her work. She'll have a wide variety of smaller pieces on sale as well as her larger works which are part of The Secret of Happiness Exhibition.
The Secret of Happiness also features works by her highly regarded sister Jule Kent.
These artworks truly need to be seen "in the flesh" to be fully appreciated and as all works are for sale this is your chance to acquire some authentic Australian art for your home.
The exhibition runs through until the end of October.

Julie and Molly whose The Secret of Happiness exhibition is on at the Stick Shed throughout October have kindly donated a work each for a raffle to raise funds for the maintenance of the shed.
These two wonderful paintings (see photos) are valued collectively at $400.
Tickets are 3 for $5 and can be bought at the Stick Shed office.
The draw will take place on Saturday the 31st of October and the lucky winner notified.

The Secret of Happiness Art Exhibition is on display right through the month of October featuring the work of sisters Julie Kent and Molly Galpin.
Both have impressive bodies of work stretching back decades and we are excited to have them exhibiting together at the Stick Shed.

Art, family and a very special exhibition are coming together at the Murtoa Stick Shed for the Murtoa Big Weekend.

Sisters Julie Kent and Molly Galpin are bringing their exhibition, “The Secret of Happiness”, to the Shed for a month-long exhibition, opening today, Saturday 3 October.

✨ Launch: Saturday 3 October at 11.30am

Both Julie and Molly will be at the Shed for the opening, where they’ll be sharing the story behind their work and taking part in a Q&A.

🖼️ All artworks are for sale, giving visitors the opportunity to take home a piece from this unique sister collaboration.

The exhibition will be on display for one month, so if you can’t make it to the opening, there will still be plenty of time to visit and discover The Secret of Happiness.

Come along to the Murtoa Big weekend on Saturday and Sunday and experience art in the extraordinary setting of the Murtoa Stick Shed.
