Throwback Thursday 🎡✨

Let’s head back to 1993 when the weather decided to put a little dampener on proceedings at the Murtoa Show!

The rain may have kept a few people away with gate takings down $764 on the previous year, but it certainly didn’t stop the show from delivering!

🐪 Camel rides were a brand new attraction and proved popular with visitors of all ages. While Darren Duncan’s model trains, vintage machinery and chaff cutter kept both kids and adults entertained.

🐴 The horse sections were once again a crowd favourite with the show jumping attracting an impressive 85 entries.

👑 And 1993 also saw the introduction of a new event — Lady of the Day, won by Murtoa’s own Gwen Gellatly.

Inside the pavilion the standard was just as high with excellent fleece entries, impressive needlework, cookery, photography and floral displays. The local primary schools also received a special mention for their well presented entries.

And of course we can’t forget the Hall Committee, who kept the hungry hordes well fed with their “mouth watering goodies”! 😋

So, despite the unpredictable weather the 1993 Murtoa Show was still declared a great success! Proving once again that a little rain isn’t enough to stop a good old fashioned country show! 🎡🌧️

✨ Meet the people who make the magic happen behind the scenes at the Murtoa Show! 🎡

Introducing Sally, our pavilion supervisor extraordinaire!

Sally took over the role and absolutely ran with it. Last year she had the rather tricky task of redesigning our new pavilion space, making sure all the sections fitted, everything worked as it should and somehow managing to keep the whole thing organised! 😅

It’s a job that takes plenty of planning, problem solving and a good eye for detail, and Sally has taken it all in her stride.

From working out where everything needs to go to making sure our pavilion is safe, functional and ready to showcase all the wonderful entries, there’s plenty happening behind the scenes that you might not see on show day.

So when you wander through the pavilion this year, take a moment to appreciate all the work that’s gone into making it happen. 💛

Everyone's favourite Puppet Show is back again at the Murtoa Show. This Puppet Show is not to be missed, it's so popular Toby Nihill travels all the way from South Australia to watch Professor Wallace on repeat throughout the day every year. And it still makes him laugh every time. What a great recommendation!
