This Pride Month, PFA are raising funds towards a dedicated grant round for projects that promote and celebrate trans and gender diverse inclusion in sport.

We spoke to Dr Ryan Storr, founder of The Diversity Storr, co-founder of Proud 2 Play and LGBTIQA+ sport researcher about the current social climate and why more resources are needed:

"Whilst there has been significant advancements for LGBTIQA+ inclusion in recent years, unfortunately, trans and gender diverse inclusion in sport has seen significant setbacks. The inclusion of trans and gender diverse people within sport, at both the community and elite level, has seen coordinated attacks to limit their access and inclusion.

Whilst organisations and advocates have mobilised to push back against such resistance - this often requires resources. Research shows that when trans and gender diverse people engage with sport, in inclusive and affirming spaces, it can positively improve their health and wellbeing - and provide important social support.

This funding will be pivotal to help trans and gender diverse people access safe and inclusive sport, and support clubs and organisations committed to this cause."

Donate to support PFA's new grant round this Pride Month

Contributions over $2 are tax deductible and no matter the amount, are greatly appreciated!

Earlier this year, the Australian Olympic Committee chose to back the International Olympic Committee’s decision to ban transgender women from competing in female events at the upcoming 2028 Olympics.

In light of this, Pride Foundation Australia will be fundraising throughout Pride Month to establish a grant round dedicated to projects that promote and celebrate trans inclusion in sports.

From now until June 30th, we’re looking to raise $30,000 to develop our grant round and support the inclusion of transgender and gender diverse players in safely participating in sports!

Your donation could help to establish a new gender-inclusive team or league, or provide an existing inclusive team with the funds for pride round uniforms.

Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible, and no matter the size, are deeply appreciated.
