Today we acknowledge National Sorry Day.

A day of reflection, remembrance, and truth-telling about the Stolen Generations, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were forcibly removed from their families, communities, culture, and Country.

We recognise the deep and ongoing impact this has had across generations. The loss of language, identity, connection, and belonging is something that continues to be felt today. But so too is the strength, resilience, and survival of First Nations peoples who have carried culture forward despite this history.

Sorry Day is not only about the past, but also about responsibility in the present. It asks us to listen, to learn, and to acknowledge truth in order to move forward in a more honest and respectful way.

Healing is not a single moment. It is ongoing. It requires respect, understanding, and real commitment to change.

This National Reconciliation Week, the Ngarrindjeri Regional Authority stands alongside communities across Australia in reflecting on our history, recognising truth, and strengthening our commitment to reconciliation.

Reconciliation is more than a week, it is an ongoing journey of respect, understanding, and meaningful action. It is about acknowledging the enduring strength, resilience, and cultural authority of First Nations peoples, and ensuring our voices, knowledge, and leadership are central in shaping a more just and equitable future.

We honour our ancestors, our Elders, and our future generations by continuing to advocate for self-determination, cultural strength, and justice for our people.

Reconciliation will not happen by itself; it takes all of us. Let’s be All In.
