Just a quick update from the team at GCS!

While you may not be seeing us out and about as much this week, please know that we are still very active behind the scenes. Right now, a lot of our time is being spent on paperwork, meetings, planning, funding applications, and working on projects that will help us support even more people in our community.

Last week alone, we delivered food assistance and supported more than 5 people who needed a helping hand. Even when we're tied up with background work, our commitment to helping those doing it tough never stops.

Sometimes the work people don't see is just as important as the work they do see. Every meeting, every form, every application and every conversation helps us build a stronger service for our community.

We'd love to hear from you:

πŸ’ What's one thing you wish would change in this world?

Also, don't forget that we are still fundraising to get our shower truck up and running. This project will provide dignity, support, and access to basic hygiene facilities for people experiencing homelessness and hardship in our community.

Every donation, share, and word of encouragement helps bring us one step closer to making it happen.

Thank you for continuing to support GCS and the work we do. ❀️

🚨Abit of a laugh for you guys🚨

After spending the night in the city for appointments, it's safe to say we didn't get much sleep! 😴

We've been running purely on fumes, determination, and a concerning amount of energy drinks just to keep going. β˜•βš‘

To top it all off, after finally finding a chair to sit down for a minute, I managed to sit straight on a wet one... because apparently the universe thought I needed one more challenge for the 2 days! πŸ˜‚

We're definitely feeling exhausted, but we're also grateful to be home and taking some time to recharge before getting back into everything next week.

Sometimes you just have to laugh at the chaos and keep moving forward! ❀️

P.S love Miranda Barnett Woolfe idea of using the hair dryer to dry my butt and I know my laugh is horrible

Firstly, we would like to apologise for being a little absent lately.

From Wednesday through until last night, Abby and Miranda were in Melbourne attending appointments regarding Abby's daughter's future surgery. It has been a busy and emotionally exhausting few days, and family has needed to come first.

This week, we will be taking some time to rest, recharge, and spend time with our families. We believe it's important to take care of ourselves so we can continue taking care of others.

We will be back next week, refreshed and ready to continue supporting our community and working on the many projects we have underway.

Thank you all for your understanding, patience, and ongoing support. We truly appreciate every one of you.

Please remember that if you need food assistance or support, you can still send us a message and we will do our best to help.

What an amazing day today at IGA Trafalgar! πŸ’™

We had the privilege of spending the day interacting with our wonderful community, raising awareness about the work we do, and sharing our vision for future projects that will make a real difference in people's lives.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we raised over $200 that will go directly towards projects such as our Shower Truck Initiative and supporting local community members who need a helping hand.

A massive thank you to IGA Trafalgar and especially Maryanne for giving us the opportunity to be there and raise these much-needed funds. Your support means so much to us and to the people we help every day.

We are truly grateful for every donation, every conversation, and every person who stopped by to learn more about what we do.

Together, we are making a difference, one step at a time. ❀️

Today I walked past one of my daughter's rooms and noticed she had written a saying on her door.

It stopped me for a moment and made me smile. It also made me realise just how much our children take in from the world around them.

Our kids are our future. They won't always get everything right, and they will make mistakes along the way, just like we all do. But if we take the time to guide them, support them, and teach them kindness, compassion, and respect, they won't just succeed in life, they'll become amazing people and advocates for others.

As parents, we often wonder if we're making a difference. Then a small moment comes along that reminds us that our children are always listening, always learning, and often carrying those lessons with them in ways we don't expect.

No child is perfect, but with love, guidance, and encouragement, they can grow into incredible people who stand up for others, show empathy, and make a positive impact on the world around them.

Today was one of those proud family moments that reminded me that the values we try to teach at home really do matter. ❀️

Our children may be our future, but they are also a reflection of the love, support, and guidance we give them today.

P.s yes we made it into a video.

Do you feel embarrassed about visiting a food relief centre?
Do you put it off until you simply can't manage anymore?
Are you tired of feeling ashamed for asking for help?

At GCS, we understand that reaching out for support can be difficult. That's why we do things differently.

Instead of asking you to come to us, we bring support directly to you. We offer discreet, respectful delivery services and assistance when it suits you.

We can help with:
β€’ Food hampers
β€’ Clothing
β€’ Hygiene and essential items
β€’ Tents and swags
β€’ Advocacy and support services
β€’ And much more

We're also working hard behind the scenes on an exciting new project. With community support, we hope to soon offer Showers with Dignity for those experiencing homelessness, providing a safe, private place to freshen up and regain a sense of comfort and confidence.

Everyone deserves access to basic necessities without judgment. If you need a helping hand, please reach out. We're here to support you.

πŸ’™ Because asking for help is a sign of strength, not something to be embarrassed about.

πŸ“£ A Quick Preview Into Our Petition! πŸ“£
Next week we'll be handing our petition into the Latrobe City Council and we couldn't be more excited to see what comes from it!

This petition is about supporting those in our community who are experiencing homelessness or doing it tough. Every signature represents someone who believes more needs to be done and that together we can create positive change.

We have already collected over 400 signatures, and honestly, we could probably collect even more if needed. The support from our community has been incredible and shows just how much people care.
Now we wait and hope that our voices are heard. 🀞

Thank you to every single person who has signed, shared, supported, and stood behind this initiative. The homeless and struggling members of our community deserve better, and this is one step towards making that happen.

Let's hope this works! πŸ’™
