This photo is of our Mirboo North Brewery Restaurant approx. 1993 when it was inviting many visitoris to our area. This week we remember all those mothers who washed the clothes proir to todays easy equipment. This dear lady using an old electric washing machine with a wringer attached. The clothes are on the line behind her and it probably took most of the day to keep up with the dirty clothes. This is not a local photo but a good one to remember the hard times that women worked under.

With the beginning of June and winter arriving, the opening of the snow season in the high country is this long weekend. Mirboo North has received its fair share of snow over the years and here we find only a few of the pictures over time. We have not had a good dump of snow since 2005 when it was quite good but will we receive any in 2026? Do you remember snow in Mirboo North and did you get to build a snowman?

Do you recognise this photo? It is a group of possibly Mirboo North Primary School students visiting the long tunnel gold mine at Walhalla but what year? We see the bus driver Bert on the left and possibly a teacher behind him. Just another of our photographs that has no explanation with it. Any comments would be appreciated.

We step back in time today to Febrauary 1986, to the Herald Sun Miss Show Girl held every year at the Mirboo North Show at the Recreation Reserve. Once again we need your assistance. Do you know any of these young ladies? Second from right is Elizabeth Beaty wearing the winning sash, the girl on her left may be Heather Littlejohn but we need confirmation. We were given this photograph with no names or date but we managed to find which year it was. Any information would be great to have names but these other girls may not be from our local area. Anyone attending the show could go into this event.

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN THE HISTORY OF THE MIRBOO NORTH RAILWAY BRANCH LINE FROM MORWELL?
The Historical Society has a book for sale on this subject. Written by local Rob Waycott makes for a good read. Anyone interested can be sent one by postal mail or collect from our Society. The cost is $40.00 plus $12:00 postage.

This week we wish every Mother and those who are not with us any longer but are much thought about a Happy Mothers Day for Sunday 10th May 2026. This photo is of a very early resident of Mirboo North, Mrs. Downing. Look at the lovely outfit she has a flower in her hand. Maybe it was Mothers Day? Please share your mothers day photos with our society at any time.

It was April 2009 that the Mirboo and District Historical Society had an official opening for the named paver footpath along the front of Baromi Park. At the same time the historical signage down the main street Ridgway was launched. We had many people attend and support our projects which are there for locals and visitors to view when visiting Mirboo North. Prior to this in 2007 we also did the pathway to the cenetaph with the named pavers when locals purchased a family or business paver, some to remember early pioneers. When next in Mirboo North remember to take a walk and see these projects.
