🌧️ **Welfare Reminder – Look After Each Other This Winter**

With the cold weather setting in and flu season well and truly here, now is a good time to remember the importance of looking after one another.

A quick phone call, text message, or visit can make a real difference β€” especially for our older members, veterans, widows, and comrades who may be doing it tough or spending more time at home.

Please take a moment to check in on a mate, neighbour, or fellow sub-Branch member. Sometimes the smallest gesture can mean the most.

If you are feeling unwell, please take care, rest up, and seek medical advice where needed.

Let’s continue to support each other and keep the spirit of mateship strong.

πŸŽ–οΈ **Prisoner of War Remembrance Function – Tickets Closing Soon**

A reminder that our **Prisoner of War Remembrance Function** is coming up, and tickets will close on **Wednesday, 19 June**.

Australians have become prisoners of war in most major conflicts of the 20th century.

During the Second South African β€” Boer β€” War of 1899 to 1902, **104 interned Australians** suffered disease, lack of food and poor sanitation.

In World War I, around **4,000 Australians** were captured by German forces on the Western Front, or by Ottoman forces on Gallipoli and throughout the Middle East. Many were ill-treated, forced to work under difficult conditions, and experienced starvation and disease.

Of the more than **30,000 Australians** made prisoners of war during World War II, more than **22,000 were captured by the Japanese** in south-east Asia, mainly in early 1942. Most of the 8,500 or so Australians held in European POW camps had been captured during the Greek and Crete campaigns of 1941.

This function is an opportunity to pause, reflect, and honor the courage, suffering and sacrifice of Australian prisoners of war.

🎟️ **Tickets close Wednesday, 19 June.**

Please secure your ticket before the closing date.

As we reflect on ANZAC Day over the past few days, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who helped make this year’s commemorations so meaningful.

To our veterans and service personnel β€” thank you for your service, sacrifice, and for allowing us the privilege to honour you.

To our members, volunteers, and the wider community β€” your support and the respect shown throughout the Dawn Service, march, and ceremonies was truly appreciated. It was fantastic to see such a strong turnout, ensuring the ANZAC spirit remains as strong as ever.

A special thank you to everyone who worked behind the scenes to organise and deliver the day β€” your efforts do not go unnoticed and are deeply valued.

We are proud to stand together as a community in remembrance.
