A big thank you to Stanwell for the story they did up on Bunyarra founder, Michael.

From his journey as a trainee in power gen, to medical challenges and overcoming adversity.

The story shapes who we are, why we do what we do, and motivates us to ensure no one struggles alone.

Today's modern mode of transport whilst counselling is Jesse's Lethal Golden Girl... the horse! 🐴

In our industry, it's all about finding ways to make support work when and where it's needed. Today, that meant keeping up and being present in a slightly different way.

At Bunyarra, we love doing things differently because different is often how we make support accessible for the people who need it most.

Not everyone can make it into an office. Not everyone has the time or space to sit on a phone call. That's why we adapt, think creatively, and meet people where they are, both literally and figuratively.

Because meaningful support isn't about how it's delivered. It's about being there when it matters.

Today, that meant swapping the office chair for the saddle, and we wouldn't have it any other way. 🐴💙

Project season is officially underway, and honestly, there is nowhere else we would rather be than on the ground alongside our incredible clients.

While projects bring excitement, opportunity, and growth, they can also bring pressure, long hours, and unique challenges. That's why being present matters. Supporting staff isn't just about being available when things go wrong. It's about building relationships, checking in regularly, and creating an environment where people know support is there before they need to ask for it.

Strong projects are built by strong people, and strong people are supported by strong teams.

Here's to another project season focused on connection, wellbeing, and making a positive impact where it matters most.

In a world full of perfectly curated feeds and endless pressure to be "more," we often forget that our greatest superpower is authenticity. You don’t need a flawless routine or all the answers to make an impact.

Just by showing up as your true self and being fully present, you create a ripple effect of positive well-being.
Think about it:

Your authenticity gives others permission to drop their armor.

Your presence lets people know they are truly seen and heard.

Never underestimate the power of a simple, genuine check-in.

A quick "Hey, I was thinking about you, how are you actually doing?" might feel small to you, but it can mean the absolute world to someone else.
By being real and looking out for one another, we build communities rooted in genuine connection.

Take a breath, be yourself, and check in on a friend today. You make more of a difference than you will ever know. 💙💙🦋🦋

This week was a special one for Bunyarra as we had the privilege of returning to where many of our community programs first began, alongside the .

Delivering NICL training to local business and community members was an opportunity to continue building education, awareness and understanding around wellbeing, not only within workplaces but within our broader community. The training focused on supporting both staff wellbeing and personal wellbeing, while encouraging us all to better recognise when someone may need support and how we can look out for one another.

At Bunyarra, we are incredibly proud and honoured to work alongside communities of all sizes. We strongly believe that no community should ever be forgotten when support is needed, and we remain committed to ensuring education, connection and wellbeing support are accessible for everyone.

A huge thank you to the Kingaroy Chamber of Commerce and all those who participated throughout the week. It is partnerships and community engagement like this that continue to create stronger, healthier and more connected communities.

Recently, members of the Bunyarra team completed their certification in both individual and group supervision, continuing our commitment to professional growth, accountability and best practice support services.

Supervision plays a vital role across both clinical and frontline support settings. It provides professionals with a safe and structured space for reflection, development, debriefing and ongoing learning, while also ensuring the highest standard of care and support for those we work alongside.

Whether in counselling, wellbeing support, community engagement or frontline services, quality supervision helps strengthen resilience, build confidence, maintain ethical practice and reduce burnout within the helping professions.

A huge congratulations to everyone involved in completing the certification.

Take a deep breath in... and let it out. 🧘‍♂️✨
In a world that constantly asks us to look ahead to the next thing, the most radical act of self-care you can do is simply to "be right here, right now".

Mindfulness isn't about emptying your mind or sitting perfectly still for hours. It’s simply the practice of gently bringing your awareness back to the present moment without judgment. And the benefits for your wellbeing? They’re life-changing.

Here is what happens when you start practicing mindfulness:

* Lowers Stress & Anxiety: By anchoring yourself in the "now", you quiet the "what-ifs" of the future and the regrets of the past.

* Improves Emotional Regulation: You learn to "notice" your feelings instead of immediately reacting to them. It creates a pause between a trigger and your response.

* Boosts Focus & Clarity: Think of it like a gym workout for your brain. It strengthens your "attention muscle," making it easier to stay present during work or conversations.

* Enhances Physical Health: Studies show mindfulness can lower blood pressure, improve sleep quality, and even strengthen your immune system.

Try the 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding Method
If you are feeling overwhelmed or distracted today, try this quick 5 senses mindful activity to instantly bring yourself back to the present moment. Acknowledge:

* 5 things you can SEE: Look around you and spot five things you wouldn’t normally notice, like a shadow on the wall or a small crack in the pavement.

* 4 things you can FEEL: Tune into your body. Notice the texture of your clothes against your skin, the warmth of your coffee mug, or the solid ground beneath your feet.

* 3 things you can HEAR: Listen closely to your environment. Can you catch the distant rustle of leaves, the steady hum of an appliance, or a bird outside your window?

* 2 things you can SMELL: Take a deep breath. Maybe you can smell the scent of your hand lotion or the fresh air coming through a window.

* 1 thing you can TASTE: Focus on your mouth. Can you taste the lingering flavor of your last meal, or simply the freshness of a sip of water?

How are you checking in with yourself today?

No single organisation or individual can solve domestic and family violence alone. It requires a collective commitment: a community that refuses to look away and a system that prioritises collaboration over silos.

The latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics and the AIHW reminds us why this work is so urgent:
* Rising Numbers: In the 2024–25 financial year, the number of FDV offenders recorded by police rose by 8%, reaching nearly 98,000 people.
* Widespread Impact: Approximately 1 in 4 women and 1 in 14 men have experienced violence from an intimate partner since the age of 15.
* The Ultimate Cost: On average, one woman is killed every 11 days by an intimate partner in Australia.
Behind these statistics are real people, real families, and real lives.

For our team, it is an honour to be at the table with fellow advocates, services, and community leaders. We are dedicated to continuing to grow and support our clients, ensuring that every person seeking safety finds a path forward.

When we work together by sharing resources, knowledge, and empathy, we build a stronger safety net. Let’s keep showing up, keep listening, and keep collaborating for a future free from violence. 💜

Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder that creating a stronger, healthier community is not the responsibility of one person, one organisation or one profession. It takes all of us.

Sometimes making a difference is as simple as checking in on a mate, listening without judgement, creating safe environments for people to speak openly, or simply showing kindness and respect in everyday interactions.

It is also important to remember that people facing mental health challenges are not always the people we expect. Often those struggling are the ones still showing up for others, smiling, performing at work, competing in sport or appearing to have everything together on the surface. That is why genuine connection, compassion and regular check-ins matter so much.

We all have a role to play in breaking down stigma, encouraging connection and helping people feel seen, valued and supported.

Communities become better places when people are willing to turn up for each other, not only in the difficult moments, but every day.

This month is an opportunity to continue the conversations, increase awareness and remind people that support matters and no one should feel like they have to face challenges alone.

Today is about more than just a title; it’s about the heart behind the role. 🥰

Happy Mother’s Day to the women who nurture, lead, and love unconditionally. We are celebrating the diverse and beautiful ways that "mothering" shows up in our lives:

To the biological moms and adoptive mom's and dual-role parents who consistently dedicate their utmost efforts.

To the foster moms and kinship caregivers providing a soft place to land and a safe harbor.

To the stepmoms building bridges with patience and grace.

To the aunties, godmothers, and mentors who step in to guide, protect, and cheer us on.

To the grandmothers who are the steady pillars of our families.

To those in the "waiting room" of motherhood, holding onto hope.

Motherhood isn’t just defined by DNA: it’s defined by showing up. Whether you are a mother by birth, by choice, or by circumstance, your influence is a gift.

Today, we also hold space for those for whom this day is heavy: those grieving their mothers, those grieving a loss of a child, and those with strained relationships. You are seen.
