If you’re flying a drone near a bushfire, that means our aircraft can’t.

Our crews often need to fly lower than the usual, which means they may be grounded if drones are operating in the area.

We know fires can look impressive from above, but please keep the skies clear so our aerial firefighting units can do what they do best.

Emergency Services Cadets is a FREE program for young people aged 12–17 years.

Cadets participate in practical activities and develop skills in areas such as emergency response, first aid, radio communications, teamwork, leadership and problem-solving, while gaining exposure to a range of emergency services.

- When: Thursdays during school terms
- Time: 5:30pm–7:30pm
- Where: SES Building, 60 Gore Street, Murgon
- Ages: 12–17 years
- Cost: FREE

AFAC News has released its bushfire outlook for spring and the months ahead paint a mixed picture for Queensland across our higher risk bushfire period.
While unseasonal rain experienced across many parts of the state has reduced bushfire risk in some areas, there are still sections of South East Queensland and the southern interior where soil moisture remains low.
This, paired with above average temperatures forecast areas south of the Tropic of Capricorn, may lead to increased fuel availability and fire danger.
No matter where you live in Queensland it’s important not to be complacent.
Remain aware of conditions in your area and ensure you have a Bushfire Survival Plan ahead of time.

Do you have plans to conduct a hazard reduction burn over the coming days?
The Bureau of Meteorology is warning of a gusty wind change that could affect most of the state from Sunday and into early next week.
The current forecast indicates the change will hit southwest Queensland first but will extend up to North Queensland by Monday. It will leave a dry airmass over Queensland which could lead to locally high fire danger.
Please check your local conditions before doing any burning, as things could change quickly.

Thank you to our incredible local community for helping us celebrate RFSQ Week!
To close out the week, the team at Malar Booie Rural Fire Brigade was out on the ground doing what we do best. We successfully assisted a local landholder with a permitted hazard reduction burn, helping to keep our community safe ahead of the warmer months.
A huge shoutout and thank you to our neighbours from Booie Rise Rural Fire Brigade for coming out to assist us. Great teamwork makes for safe communities.
Remember, fire safety is a shared responsibility. If you are planning a burn on your property, please ensure you have the correct permits in place.

As Queensland’s higher risk bushfire period approaches, it’s important to stay across the Fire Danger Rating for your area.

The FDR is updated daily and reflects how severe a bushfire could be and how difficult it would be to contain.

🟢 Moderate: Stay up to date and be ready to act.

🟡 High: Decide what you’ll do if a fire starts and be alert during heightened fire conditions.

🟠 Extreme: Make sure your property is fire ready and, if a fire starts, take immediate action.

🔴 Catastrophic: Leave bushfire risk areas. Stay safe by getting to a safer location in the morning or the night before.
