Why are the Kendenup Community & Men's Shed Inc. cutting plywood Quenda? What's a Quenda hunt? What are the Kendenup Knitters going to do with theirs?
As part of the Quenda Festival on 24 October there will be a community based art project involving decorating plywood cut out Quendas.
How to Enter the Quenda Art Hunt.
Pick up your cutout Quenda and pay $10 — this goes towards prize money for the public's choice of best decorated Quenda. Thanks to a Shire of Plantagenet community grant all the entry money will go towards prize money.
Decorate your Quenda with any technique you like — painting, sewing, decoupage, etc. If your Quenda has a name, or a story that goes with it, put it on the back.
Cash prizes, supplied by Community Bank Mount Barker will go to people's choice prizes
Adult- 1st $200 2nd $100 3rd $50
Children under 16- 1st $75 2nd $50 3rd $25
The rest of the prize money goes to randomly chosen entrants and voters — two chances to win! These mystery prizes will be $50.
Cutouts are available from the Kendenup Town Hall market on 12 September and the Kendenup Community Men’Shed (0499 000 175). Return your finished Quenda to the Kendenup Town Hall during the ArtSouth WA Exhibition (24 September – 4 October, 10am–2pm), by 4 October. Can't make it then? Call 0458 274 655.
Finished Quendas will be on display during the Quenda Festival on 24 October, at The Kendenup Town Hall, The Bakers Folly and Sally's Cottage Garden . Voting forms and drop off boxes will be at all venues. Winners will be announced 25th October. Quendas remain your property — you're free to take yours home after the event, or collect it from the Town Hall later, to proudly display in your home garden.
How will you decorate your Quenda?

Thanks to Doing Co and Shire staff for facilitating this final step in forming our 10 year Place Plan for Kendenup.
A positive group of locals with some great ideas, we're looking forward to seeing the finished document.
It was interesting to hear some of the themes from our earlier workshops are already being activated, led by our local volunteers and Shire staff.

If you're coming to the Kendenup Place Plan on Thursday 23rd July, it may be worth coming to the Streets Alive information workshop. Possible ideas for a $100,000 grant for some of the ideas from the first 2 stages of the Place Plan?

It's the last day to book for catering for the Place Plan.

Before the place plan, David Snyder from Doing Co will present information about possible grants for road safety. This could be landscaping or other ideas.
Some of the emerging issues from the first workshop was street landscaping, the entrances to Kendenup and road safety.
How good would it be to receive funding for these things, like other towns and communities across W.A. It just takes people concerned to come along.

Is it time we had a mini CRC in Kendenup?
I was looking to have some documents photocopied, which meant I had to drive in to Mt Barker.
Not a very good use of resources.
Where would a Kendenup CRC go?
Kendenup Town Hall the new Kendenup Community & Men's Shed Inc. Shed or Kendenup Agricultural Grounds . All great venues, Shire of Plantagenet owned buildings leased by volunteer groups.
Who would staff it?
Could the Shire give us a grant and it was split among community groups, who manned it on a roster, as a fund raiser?
If you have any ideas, come to the Agricultural Grounds on Thursday 23rd of July at 5.30 for the next step of the Place plan
