A long shot, but does anyone out there have a copy of this book that they'd be happy to sell or pass on to the Wildplant library? It seems to be out of print and unavailable everywhere, and it's such a lovely book! Thanks

Community members often ask us about the status of Wildplant's occupancy at Clairvaux. The answer is that our presence here remains tenuous, and is likely to remain uncertain for some time.

Clairvaux is now under the ownership of Property Development NSW (a state government body), having been transferred from the Department of Communities and Justice in 2025. Wildplant is now the only remaining occupant, on the basis of a holdover arrangement from a now-expired licence. Late last year Blue Mountains City Council wrote to the relevant state ministers advocating that Clairvaux should remain in public ownership, and should continue to house community organisations including Wildplant Rescue. Council resolved that "any transfer of the Clairvaux site into council ownership needs to be accompanied by sufficient funds to bring the site up to an appropriate standard for the continued delivery of community support services".

The most recent development is that the Minister for Families and Communities Kate Washington has replied to council, advising that the property is subject to an assessment under the NSW Government Property Framework, and that no decision has yet been made about future use of the site. However the minister committed the government to purposeful engagement with the council, and welcomed "the opportunity to meet with you to discuss the site's management and process to determine its future use".

Wildplant Rescue remains grateful to Blue Mountains City Council, and our local member Trish Doyle, for their continued active advocacy on our behalf.

Plant of the Month for June

Natural populations of Indigofera australis are widespread through NSW and other states, and can be found in most areas of the Blue Mountains. This easy to grow, floriferous plant stands out in any garden.

Let it grow naturally to a horizontal form of about 1.5m high and 1.5m wide, then the pink to purple coloured flowers - held up on 15-20cm spikes - form a carpet across the top. Or keep the plant trimmed and bushy and there will be spikes of colour all over.

The flowers occur from spring to early summer. They attract bees and butterflies for nectar thus adding to the beauty of the garden.

The leaves are about 8cm long, and pinnate and their lovely blue-green colour blends well with that of the flowers and provide an interesting shrub during the rest of the year.

For more detailed information, images and distribution mapping, see Atlas of Living Australia.

Plenty of lovely plants in stock.
We are still open despite the cold, but... we might be sheltering indoors! so please follow the sign to the sales desk.

Ooops! Apologies if you came by early last Saturday and found us closed. It was the extra 5th Saturday of the month, and we had a roster malfunction... So sorry. We were open as normal by 11am, big thanks to emergency volunteers!
Hope you're enjoying this welcome bit of Sunshine.
Pictured here is the gorgeous Solanum aviculare. This small shrub grows naturally on the fringes of our rainforest areas. It can grow to several metres high and makes a wonderful show when flowering and then fruiting. I notice there are some tubes almost ready at the nursery, so keep an eye out for them. This one is in a small pot on my balcony.

It will be very busy in our area this weekend due to the Ultra Trail marathon races but... we have lots of parking available at the nursery, so come on down.

We'll be open on both Friday and Saturday from 10am-1pm, cash and card welcome.

Image shows the anticlockwise circular route of the 686G bus, which usually travels past the nursery every 20mins.
The pink dot is us at 14 Oak St. We are also only a block away from any bus to Scenic World.
