The Bureau of Meteorology has updated the Severe Thunderstorm Warning ⚠️ for DAMAGING WINDS 💨 and LARGE HAILSTONES for Adelaide Metropolitan, Mount Lofty Ranges, Yorke Peninsula, Mid North and parts of Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Flinders, Murraylands, Upper South East and North West Pastoral districts.

Severe thunderstorms approaching Adelaide again this evening.

Weather Situation: Isolated severe thunderstorms are expected to continue moving eastwards into the evening ahead of a cold front with favourable unstable conditions.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Adelaide, Whyalla, Port Augusta, Port Pirie, Clare, Maitland, Murray Bridge, Port Wakefield, Gawler, Victor Harbor, Meningie and Jamestown.

98 km/h wind gust was recorded at Woomera Airport at 12:18 pm.

Safety advice

* Secure or put away loose items around your property.

* Move cars under cover or away from trees.

* Keep clear of fallen power lines.

* Stay indoors, away from windows, while storms are nearby.

🚒 First Aid Familiarisation 🚑

Our members recently spent a training night brushing up on their basic first aid skills and getting familiar with the first aid equipment we carry and use.

The session was hosted by Nicole, wife of our brigade member Tim, who generously shared her SAAS Paramedic knowledge and helped our members refresh some important skills and talk through different scenarios.

We’re also fortunate to have members within the brigade who have completed Advanced First Aid training, giving us additional skills and knowledge in things such as oxygen therapy.

It’s not always a fire that needs our attention. Being confident with basic first aid and knowing how to use the equipment available can make a real difference ❤️‍🩹

A big THANK YOU to Nicole for taking the time to train with us, and to our members for continuing to build their skills and keep themselves, and our community, better prepared. 👏

🚒 A great night of hands-on fire safety training!🧯

Last night's Fire Extinguisher & Fire Blanket information night was a fantastic success, with more than 26 family members, friends and community members joining us to learn these potentially important life-saving skills.

Everyone had the opportunity to get hands-on experience using fire extinguishers and fire blankets in a safe, controlled environment, building confidence and becoming familiar with how to use them should an emergency ever arise.

A big thank you to everyone who came along, asked questions, and got involved. It's great to see our community taking the time to learn skills that could one day help protect their families, homes and others.

Thank you also to our volunteers who helped make the evening possible, as well as our friends from Riverside Salvation Army for the warm drinks and conversations!

🚨 A timely reminder: If you have a fire extinguisher or fire blanket at home, take a few minutes to check that it's in good condition, hasn't passed its service or expiry date, and is stored somewhere that's easy to access in an emergency. Having this equipment is only half the battle—making sure it's ready when you need it could make all the difference.

Over the past 12 months, South Australian Country Fire Service volunteers and staff responded to 10,058 incidents across the state. From bushfires and structure fires to road crashes, hazardous materials incidents and community assistance.

Every response represents the dedication, skill and commitment of our volunteers and staff, supported by their families, employers and communities. Thank you to everyone who makes this service possible and stands behind our people every step of the way.

Concordia took delivery of a new 14 tonight.

The new Concordia 14 is based on a 2024 Isuzu NPS 75-155, is 4 x 4 and carries 1000 litres of water.

Built by Moore Engineering it is fitted with an Isuzu 3CA1-AZPO1 motor / Darley 1.5 AGE pump.

It includes additional safety features to protect firefighters, including a halo system (water deluge system) and an in-cab breathing system.

It comes fitted with an LED light bar and an Engel fridge, and equipped with a Stihl chainsaw.

It replaces the existing 16 year old Nissan based QRV

Today is “Thank a First Responder Day” a national day of appreciation recognising the extraordinary service of police, fire, ambulance, SES, marine rescue, and other emergency service personnel, along with the families who support them behind the scenes.

When our community faces tough times, this group of people is the first to run towards danger, to protect us.

Our firefighters and emergency service personnel deserve thanks every day, but I wanted to especially thank them with a reception at Parliament this week.

Thank you to Emergency Services Minister Rhiannon Pearce MP for joining me in thanking these hard working volunteers, as we marked St Florians Day - International Firefighters' Day.
