On Monday and Tuesday, members of Region 2 Air Operations were deployed to Second Valley Airstrip to support Myponga during the Deep Creek fires.
Crews assisted with filling aircraft using water, foam, gel, and Phos-Chek fire retardant, helping ensure aerial resources could continue operating safely and effectively.

Our thoughts are still with all the brave volunteers who continue to fight these fires.

Yesterday Region 2 Air Operation members supported Water Bombing filling activities at Second Valley. We have another group of members leaving first thing this morning to assist as well.
A huge thank you to all our members for their on going support to the community. 👌

Water bombing aircraft - fixed wing 'air tractors' and helicopters made 391 drops of water onto the Deep Creek fire on Monday.

The air tractors (planes) were being refilled at the Second Valley airstrip.

CFS crews undertook the refilling - a process that takes just a few minutes per plane - from landing, filling with around 3000 litres of water and taking off.

A first for SA!! On the 26th November, a crew of volunteers from R2 Air Operations headed to Stirling North to assist with retardant mixing. Such an eye opener and great experience for all those that went to assist. 👌

🔥 Fire Season is Coming – We’re Getting Ready!

As fire season approaches, our dedicated members will be starting back with weekly training in early October to prepare for the months ahead.
