Donations aer trickling in and we hope that our community is still aware that more donations are needed.
A very BIG thank you to Camp Kalbarri who have donated $5,000 towards the proposed Kalbarri Community Health Practice today.
Who knows what this small group of dedicated people do? Camp Kalbarri overlooks our beautiful river next to Anchorage Holiday Park, and welcomes school groups and others to Kalbarri to explore and enjoy everything Kalbarri. They also run the overflow camping during the peak seasons. They are a not-for-profit group and aim to improve and maintain their facilities and give back to our community. This generous donation is a great way of doing that. Thank you πŸ™πŸ’žπŸ’žπŸ™πŸ’žπŸ™
As you a few community groups have donated including Marine Rescue Kalbarri, Kalbarri SES, Seniors Group, and AOOB's and of course many individuals and Kalbarri Business.
Remember, your donation is needed for re-establishing the Practice, not ongoing funding, and of course it is refundable should we not we awarded the Lease through the Tender process.
Your donation is needed and welcome: GoFundMe https://gofund.me/d94617ea8 or direct deposit: Kalbarri Development Association Bendigo Bank bsb 633-000 account 218270247 - Thank you. πŸ’žπŸ™πŸ’žπŸ™πŸ’žπŸ™πŸ’ž

KALBARRI COMMUNITY HEALTH PRACTICE – FUNDRAISING UPDATE

Hello everyone,

We are very encouraged to see donations trickling in again over the past week, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who has contributed.

A very special thank you to Graham and Irene Dunn for their very generous donation. Graham and Irene have lived in Kalbarri for what seems like forever, and now, in their senior years, are feeling the impact and vulnerability of not having readily available medical services in our community.

Their generosity, along with every donation we have received, is a wonderful encouragement and a reminder of how much this project means to our community.

πŸŽ‰ We have now reached $41,000!

We still have a way to go, but this is a fantastic effort by our community and something we should all be proud of.

🌭 And what a sausage sizzle!

We had a very successful Sausage Sizzle at the Kalbarri Community Markets yesterday.

A few generous people even bought a couple of sausages for $50 and told us to β€œkeep the change!” That sort of community spirit is just wonderful.

A huge thank you to:

Our amazing volunteers
Bev, for organising everything
Kalbarri Bakery, for donating the bread
Jay the Butcher, for making the sausages available at such a great price

Together, we raised an incredible $928.70 yesterday!

That means our two sausage sizzles have now raised $1,500 for the Community Health Practice. What a great effort!

We are moving forward!

We are now, finally, in the process of preparing a Tender to the Shire for the premises and to implement our proposal for the Kalbarri Community Health Practice.

This is a competitive process, with Tenders closing on 16 October.

That means we still have a little time to raise the funds we need and, importantly, demonstrate the strength of community support through donations.

Every donation, large or small, makes a difference.

πŸ‘‰ Donate through our GoFundMe:

Or you can make a direct deposit:

Kalbarri Development Association
Bendigo Bank
BSB: 633-000
Account: 218270247
Purpose: Community Health Practice

Remember, we will offer to refund donations if we are not successful with our Tender.

πŸ™ Please help us spread the word. Share this post with your friends, family and networks, near and far. The more people who know about what we are trying to achieve for Kalbarri, the better.

Thank you to everyone who has donated, volunteered, shared our posts, bought a sausage, encouraged us or simply cheered us on.

Together, we can make this happen for Kalbarri.

We would like to update you on what is happening with the Shire Tender and our proposal for Kalbarri Community Health Practice.
The Shire has advertised the Tender the Lease for the premises at 24 Hackney Street (known as Kalbarri Doctors' Surgery). This is a competitive process and Tenders must be in by 16 October. The documents state that when making its determination the Shire will consider primarily which submission offers the Kalbarri community the most sustainable, reliable and comprehensive service, not necessarily the one which is less cost to the Shire budget.
The good news about all of this is that Kalbarri will have a medical service within two months at most, all things being equal.
As you know, KDA will be presenting a Tender to the Shire and we are already preparing that.
KDA must demonstrate how we will meet the needs of the community, but also the level of support we have for our proposal.
We have met with many people in our community already and have conversations every day to inform people of what is going on, what our proposal is about, as well as why and how we plan to achieve it. It has been very encouraging to hear support from people once they understand better, and clear up misunderstandings and rumours.
If you have questions, please look at our information page www.kalbarri.co/communityhealthpractice and don’t hesitate to contact me directly by return email or phone 0407722024. I am more than happy to answer any question.
There are a few common questions raised though:
Why do we need start up funding? Isn’t that someone else’s (read Government) job? Actually the answer is that it is not someone else’s job because most health care is set up on a fee for service basis, and health professionals set up businesses to provide that service and charge their fees. The Government may cover some of the cost through Medicare.
Our proposal for Kalbarri Community Health Practice needs start-up funding, just like any business. We need money in the bank to get going. Start-up funding will provide cash flow to cover initial costs of recruiting staff, training staff, paying staff whilst they start seeing patients and billing Medicare, paying up front things like insurances, IT support, medical supplies, equipment and so on.
What will happen to the money we have raised if we are not the successful Tenderer? All donated funds will be offered back to the donor. If the donor does not want the money back, or we have funds that we have raised in non direct ways, then we will put that money into community services and events as we do now. Any money the KDA has, must be spent for the benefit of our community.
We also want to let you know that we have a very skilled and committed group of people who will be on the Governance Board. KCHP will be truly community-led.
A HUGE THANK YOU to those who have already supported our efforts. If you can, please encourage others to do so too.
If you are still thinking about supporting this proposal or it is on your to do list, please don’t hesitate – now is the time. Any amount helps and will be appreciated. Please make a bank transfer to our account, especially dedicated for this purpose: Kalbarri Development Association Inc Bendigo Bank bsb 633-000 account 218270247. OR click here to go to our GoFundMe page: https://gofund.me/ebdc4eb04.
Thank you very much for reading through this and helping to make Kalbarri Community Health Practice REAL for our community.
Best regards
Ellen
