For the past month a protest camp has been defending the site from planned demolition work.
This morning police have raided the camp and are in the process of clearing and dismantling it.

Tonight on A Current Atrocity, the NSW Destruction Authority continues to demolish housing while flood affected residents remain without the support they were promised 4 years ago.

Full house last night organising our community to stop the demolitions and save our heritage homes!

NSW Reconstruction Authority stop the destruction, right now. We've had enough of the waste of resources and lack of transparency.

Relocate and reuse our homes for public housing and community use. Support every flood affected resident; make our homes resilient. Retrofit, raise, relocate and reuse every home that needs it.

Keep our community safe from future disasters.

Should we tax housing as an investment so it's prohibitively expensive for someone to do?

Jake York asked that in parliament, and no one had a good reason why not.

Australia has incentivised house hoarding for decades. Negative gearing. CGT discounts. Tax concessions that let investors compete for housing as a wealth vehicle locking everyone else out when they just need somewhere to live.

The government's recent changes grandfathered existing investors. Cementing housing inequity.

We need tax settings that disincentivise housing as an investment, so everybody gets a house.

Our community continues to come together to stop the demolitions of our beautiful big scrub heritage homes.

We demand that the NSW RA do their job and make our homes resilient, not destroy what should be Public Housing and relocated for community use.

We won't stop until our community is fully recovered from the 2022 disaster and every person has a safe place to call home.
