We've had a mixed bag of weather to kick off the season, but regardless of what Mother Nature has thrown our way, our indomitable patrol teams have hit the ground running! 💪🌊
A huge thank you to our dedicated Patrol Captains and every member of their teams who give their time, skills and energy to keep our beach safe. Whether it's sunshine, wind, or rain, you continue to show up and deliver. And our Nippers are also lucky to benefit from your nearby presence 😀
Your commitment, teamwork and willingness to serve our community are what make Grange SLSC so special. ❤️

Sentimental Sunday
"What does the Grange Surf Life Saving Club mean to me?"
This week another Club legend shares his thoughts!
David Swain is a familiar figure to many, a long time club member, and a life saver with varied skills!
“I have been involved in surf lifesaving all my life, beginning as a Nipper at Bon Beach Royal Lifesaving Club in Victoria. For more than 40 years, Grange Surf Life Saving Club has been a huge part of my life, instilling in me a love of the beach, developing my skills and providing lifelong friendships.
Throughout my journey, I have held many roles at Grange, including Club Captain, Deputy President, Secretary, Chief Instructor, Lifesaving Adviser, Touring Team Manager and Club Solicitor. I was proud to be awarded Life Membership in 1999.
Some career highlights include being named SA Surf Lifesaver of the Year twice and becoming the first South Australian to receive Australian Surf Lifesaver of the Year in 1985. I was also appointed a World Lifesaving International Training Officer and completed more than 1,250 voluntary beach patrol hours, alongside countless hours supporting the State Radio Room and State Jet Rescue Boat Service.
I had the privilege of serving as State Superintendent and later State Director of Lifesaving Services, overseeing lifesaving activities across South Australia's 18 surf clubs. In recognition of my service, I received Life Membership of Surf Life Saving SA, a Ministerial Commendation, the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 2007, and was inducted into the Surf Life Saving SA Hall of Fame in 2016.
These experiences have given me a fantastic life and helped with my career in law.
At 87 years young, the Club means everything to me. Grange has been, and continues to be, the foundation of my life. The attitudes instilled in me by the Club have helped me enjoy a healthy and fulfilling life."

🔴⚪️🔵 How cool is this???

We’re thrilled to announce the next inductees into the 2026 South Australian Sport Hall of Fame: the Grange Surf Lifesaving Open Boat Crew 1983-93.

For a decade, Grange was the benchmark in South Australian surfboat racing, winning ten successive SA Open Men’s Surfboat Championships from 1983 to 1992. In 1988, the crew was crowned Gadsden Open Surfboat Champions of Australia, and was awarded the Neil Hawke Golden Award for a win against great odds.

Named Most Outstanding SA Surfboat Crew eleven years running, this is a team that defined an era.

Celebrate their induction at the South Australian Sport Hall of Fame on Friday 13 November at Adelaide Oval.

🌏❤️ Grange SLSC Spreading Goodwill Beyond Our Shores! 🔴⚪️🔵
Surf lifesaving is about more than keeping people safe on our beaches - it’s about community, generosity and making a difference. We’re delighted that Grange SLSC has supported a Learn to Surf and Beach Clean-Up Day in Kiribati! 🌏🌊
A big thank you to club member Tim Riley, who works for Osmoflo, a company that provides water treatment plants for the local community. Tim helped connect Osmoflo with our club, and assisted Ralph Bock in donating rash vests on behalf of Grange SLSC for the local children to wear during their surf activities. 🏄‍♀️❤️
What a wonderful way to share our surf lifesaving spirit, support beach safety and inspire the next generation to care for their beaches and oceans.
We’re proud to see the Grange SLSC community making a difference beyond our own shores. ❤️

🔴⚪️🔵 🌊 Another busy Sunday for the Grange Boaties 🚣‍♀️
Our youth had a big day, making the most of some great opportunities despite the dodgy weather!
🌧️ Lea and Enaya took part in the Sweep Academy, learning the skills of sweeping, while our girls’ crew rowed at Seacliff Surf Life Saving Club A challenging morning on the water!
🚣‍♀️ Later, the girls were keen to get involved in the 75th anniversary celebrations of Bullet Henderson at North Haven Surf Life Saving Club They jumped at the opportunity to take the North Haven surf boat out on the water!
👏 Great to see our young members getting involved, trying new things and making the most of every opportunity.
