No point diving deep - it's all dark and murky and there's nothing to see - right?
Wrong! Check out this vis at 105m!!

(and if that's not enough, there are two more wrecks on the way up on deco!)

Great news!

After a chance discovery in the lab, this team used IVF to make hundreds of coral babies for restoration projects in New South Wales. So far the IVF babies are doing well in the wild.

Photographer & diver Brian Skerry beside the magnificently massive southern right whale.

There's an estimated 12,000 southern right whales spread throughout the southern hemisphere. They have started to recover from centuries of commercial hunting, unlike their endangered cousins in the Northern hemisphere. Right whales were named by whalers who identified them as the "right" whale to hunt, because they floated when they were killed.

North Atlantic right whales are one of the most endangered large whale species in the world, and the biggest threats they face are large ships and fishing gear, which can cause collisions and severe entanglement-related injuries, and ocean noise pollution.

BIG RESPECT SHOWN TO NATURE BY COPACABANA CREW đź’™

Shout out to this group of surfers who spotted endangered southern right whale mother and calf in the bay this arvo.

Heeding advice on the sensitive nature of these beautiful creatures they not only keep the legal distance for all vessels of 300m (100m for drones, no hovering or approaching from front), but they stayed out of the water to let them be, enjoying this special experience from shore, helping to provide them safe place to rest on their journey.

This sort of action should be admired 👏

You lovely crew have directly contributed to the security of this pair and potentially a species.

WE THANK YOU đź’™

Bondi Beach could soon no longer have shark nets as marine life activists call for the immediate removal of all shark nets across NSW coastlines after the latest research found not a single target shark was caught across Sydney last season.
