Following our theme for this month, Hope, check out these success stories on AbiliTV, featuring Mikky Whalan from the Gold Coast.

Next Wednesday 21 October at 7pm, at our evening support group meeting, the discussion will centre around stories of success and reminding ourselves that there is hope.

Other recent local stories, featured Ben Haack, author of Reason for Hope - A Parent’s Playbook for Raising Happy and Resilient Kids - Hard Won Lessons from My Life on the Autism Spectrum. The book was written for families who may be feeling the fear, uncertainty,
and anxiety that often follow an autism diagnosis. Featured in our October newsletter: https://shorturl.at/vR0H9

Behind every child who learns to embrace their differences, there is often someone who first chose to believe in them.

Temple Grandin’s story reminds us that acceptance begins with understanding—not trying to change who a child is, but helping them discover the strengths within their differences.

A mother’s belief can become a child’s confidence.
A child’s difference can become their strength.
And being truly understood can change a life. 💙♾️

Different is not less. Different can be powerful.

The sleepless nights, the paperwork, the juggle of services and supports - we see you. And it's time the rest of Australia did too. We’ve partnered with CliniKids, part of The Kids Research Institute Australia, and the The University of Western Australia for the 2026 National Autism Parent and Caregiver Survey.

If you're an Australian parent or primary caregiver (18+) of an autistic child, young person or adult, please take the time to have your say — around 30 minutes, completely anonymous.

The survey closes at 11:59pm on Monday 5th October. Your answers will be used to inform policy, supports and service design, with findings published in January 2027.
