Collective Conversations: Impact in Action is just around the corner.

We’re looking forward to bringing our Geelong Women’s Impact Collective members together for a morning of connection, conversation and a closer look at the impact of collective giving in our community.

We’ll hear from the organisations helping turn collective generosity into meaningful local impact, and connect with the women and allies making it possible.

Progress for women and girls cannot be taken for granted.

Nationally, across Victoria and here in Geelong, women and girls continue to face persistent challenges — from safety and financial security to access to opportunity, leadership and the systems that shape their lives.

For Geelong Women’s Impact Collective, the opportunity is to bring people together and harness the power of collective giving to help create meaningful change locally.

Our Impact Focus helps guide that collective effort, with six goals reflecting the change we want to contribute to for women and girls across our region:
• Safety
• Stability
• Independence
• Opportunity
• Power
• Systems change

Together, they provide a framework for impact — from responding to immediate need and creating greater opportunity, through to strengthening women’s voices and investing in prevention and lasting systems change.

By bringing women and allies together, pooling our giving and investing in locally delivered solutions, we can contribute to meaningful change for women and girls across our region.

Because this is a time for more than good intentions. It’s a time to come together and act.

One year of Safe at Home: what are we learning?

McAuley Community Services for Women and delivery partner Meli | Community Services and Kindergartens have shared a first-year progress update from the Safe at Home trial, highlighting important learnings about supporting women and children experiencing family violence earlier — before crisis and homelessness.

The findings reinforce the importance of whole-of-family support, including recognising children and young people as victim-survivors with their own experiences and needs.

This work has a strong local connection. The Geelong Women’s Impact Collective’s inaugural $40,000 grant is supporting McAuley’s dedicated Children and Young People Practitioner for Safe at Home here in Geelong.

We look forward to hearing more from McAuley and Meli at our Collective Conversations Morning Tea on 29 October, where both organisations will join the panel to share their insights and experience.

We’re proud to see this local investment contributing to a broader approach focused on earlier, safer and more coordinated support for women and children.

Women are reshaping philanthropy. And they’re doing it together.

New Australian research is revealing just how significant women’s role in giving already is – and how much potential there is for it to grow.

The landmark 2026 She Gives: Growing Women’s Giving in Australia research found that 64% of women want to give more.

But perhaps the most interesting shift isn’t simply how much women are giving. It’s how they’re choosing to give.

From Dolly Parton and Melanie Perkins to collective giving movements around the world, women are finding different ways to turn what matters to them into action.

Here in Geelong, we’re seeing that too.

In 2026, 104 women became Founding Members of the Geelong Women’s Impact Collective, pooling their generosity and awarding the Collective’s first $40,000 local grant.

This October, we’re bringing the Collective together.

We’re looking forward to welcoming members to Collective Conversations: Impact in Action – A Member Morning Tea at Crowne Plaza Geelong.

A morning to connect, share ideas and see what our collective giving is making possible for women and girls across our region.

The morning will feature a panel discussion facilitated by Catherine Brooks (Catherine Brooks) of Equitable Philanthropy, McAuley Community Services for Women sharing more about their Safe at Home Program, delivered locally in partnership with Meli.

There will also be plenty of time to enjoy morning tea, connect with fellow members and hear a few special updates about what’s ahead for the Collective.

The Geelong Women’s Impact Collective brings together people who share an ambition to create a fairer future for women and girls across our region.

At its heart is women-led philanthropy: combining our giving, knowledge and voices to support local solutions and contribute to meaningful, lasting change.

Collective membership for 2026/2027 is now open.

As a Collective member, your involvement goes well beyond your philanthropic contribution. It’s an opportunity to connect with others who share your values, deepen your understanding of the issues affecting women and girls locally, see the impact your giving helps make possible, and have a voice in where the Collective invests next. There are opportunities to come together ahead, including our next member event in October.

While our funding has a clear focus on improving outcomes for women and girls, creating a fairer future isn’t work for women alone. When women and girls are safer, more connected and better supported to thrive, the benefits extend to families and our wider community, including the men and boys in their lives.

Recent conversations about the safety, respect and equality of women are a powerful reminder of why this work continues to matter. They also reinforce that meaningful change requires all of us — women and allies alike — to play a part.

What we’ve learnt from six months of giving together. 💫

More than 100 women and allies have come together through the Geelong Women’s Impact Collective, united by a shared ambition to help create a fairer future for women and girls across our region.

But the ambition was never simply to raise funds.

We wanted to build a community where women and allies could connect, learn and invest together — and feel genuinely connected to the change they want to help create.

Six months on, one lesson stands out: when people see their values reflected in a shared purpose, philanthropy can become something much deeper than generosity. It becomes partnership.

Our latest news article reflects on what we’ve learnt about listening, shared purpose and building meaningful philanthropic relationships — and how that purpose is beginning to translate into action through the Collective’s inaugural grant.

To every member who has helped shape these first six months: thank you. There’s much more to come.

At its heart, the Collective began through conversation, connection and a shared desire to create meaningful local change for women and girls across our region.
