We congratulate everyone who participated in the Respect 2040 Forum and their commitment to advancing gender equality. 🫱🏼‍🫲🏽

Gender inequality remains a key driver of violence against women. By promoting gender equality in our workplaces, communities and everyday lives, we can help create safer, more respectful communities for everyone.

Well done to Women's Health and Wellbeing Barwon South West for a great, thought-provoking event 👏🏼

⛳️We were delighted to attend Queen’s Park Golf Club to accept a generous $1,500 donation to The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre. The funds were raised by the club’s women’s golfing group and will directly support services for our clients.

During the visit, The SAFV Centre shared how donations like this make a real difference to our clients, in their recovery from family and sexual violence. What stood out most was the group’s enthusiasm to do more. Beyond their donation, the women were eager to learn how else they could support our work to help end gendered violence.

We sincerely thank the Queen’s Park Golf Club women’s tournament for their generosity and ongoing commitment to our cause. 🙏

We're proud to be Respect 2040 partners and hope to see you there! 🙌

This EOFY, you can make a real difference for women and children rebuilding their lives 💜 Donations help us uplift our services to people experiencing family and sexual violence.

Your donations create moments of safety, joy and possibility for our clients. From movie tickets that offer a much-needed break, to essential supplies in our refuges, trauma-informed yoga, laptops for study and employment, and access to community activities for our children victim-survivors (and much, much more!) every contribution counts.

Together, we can help people heal, regain independence, and create brighter futures for their families.
Give before June 30 and be part of the change. ✨

💛 Donate today via our website (https://www.safvcentre.org.au/donate/) and help us provide more than a service to our clients.

*We have DGR status, which means any donation over $2 is tax deductible.

🏥 🩺 We are so pleased to share that our healthcare training program is having a huge impact for victim-survivors and their families!

This early intervention program consists of upskilling GPs, clinic administrative staff and other healthcare workers to recognise signs of family and sexual violence as well as child sexual abuse.

It also supports these frontline staff to make appropriate referrals to services. We are proud to be partnering with our local Western Victoria Primary Health Network to execute this project.

The most recent evaluation of this project - launched publicly this week - has found:
✅ strong improvements in clinician awareness, confidence, and readiness to recognise and respond to family and sexual violence and child sexual abuse
✅ strengthened referral pathways to specialist services.

Initiatives such as this are so important to ensure people are supported earlier in their recovery journey and that our healthcare staff are trained to support someone who makes a disclosure.

🎉We are so thrilled to share that last night the Geelong Community Foundation announced The SAFV Centre as a $150,000 grant recipient to be used over 3 years to fund 'Respect Starts Here'.

We're so proud of this primary prevention program that supports sporting clubs to promote respect and equality and to challenge disrespectful attitudes and behaviours among their members. A huge thank you to the Geelong Community Foundation for supporting our work towards gender equality.

Please reach out if your sporting club would like to get involved. We can't wait to continue this important work over the next 3 years!

💰📉 Do you have unspent funds in your PD Budget that you want to use before EOFY?

We are offering our THRIVE training, which supports client-facing workers who may be at risk of experiencing burnout, compassion fatigue or vicarious trauma.

Delivered by experienced therapeutic practitioners and training specialists, this training is a practical way for organisations to support staff who may work with clients who have experienced traumatic events or significant challenges in their lives.
