Well that was optimistic- leave Fish Creek at 6- get to Leongatha- complete some aquatic badge work- stop in at Maccas for some dinner and get home at the usual time. 🤣🤣
Way more than two hours this week for scouts. But did the youth have fun- you bet 🙌 🤩
Thankyou to our helpers Charlotte, Brad and Ange for being the “Uber parents” tonight. We really do appreciate you. 😊

~🧭 🗺️~
Tonight was a full house, as scouts and leaders shared their knowledge, and new scouts learned all about Compasses and maps.
Oddly enough- a valuable lesson was learnt tonight after running a map through an AI program……
“Never trust AI” 🙌🙌🙌🙌

The brief was simple- demonstrate something “Scouty” you’ve learnt from books, the internet or from someone. You have 10 minutes each.
We learnt how to make a;
🎣 fish trap,
⏳ time capsule
🧵 sewing kit
🫙 light jar
🧼 hike soap paper
📯balloon horn
🕯️ long lasting water and oil candle
🏹 bow and arrow

And then the fire related demonstations began…….
🪵 how to split wood without an axe
🧔‍♂️ How to start a fire with “old man’s beard”,
🔋 how to start a fire with a battery,
🎇 how to make your own fire works display.
As us leaders and adults stood back and admired the Scouts hard work- the symphony of the horns echoed through the air of Fish Creek. Well done Scouts! 📣

🥾 SCOUTHIKE 2026 🥾
~Historical Adventures~
🏕️Tallarook State Forest 🌳
After a lovely day of hiking on Saturday-the heavens opened up at 4am and didn’t stop. Some scouts questioning their decision to join ScoutHike- but with some encouragement and some pack adjustments, and sugar 🤭- off they went again.
At the finish line- they were full of smiles and relief after hiking over
30 kms and countless activities.
Bravo Fishy Scouts 🙌🙌
They couldn’t get in the car quick enough to warm up and dry off and tell their stories, of this two night, two day adventure.
Rest up Fishy Scout patrol, you should be very proud.

Tonight we celebrated mums and special people that are part of our scouts lives. 💓
- we initiated a lot of new members into the highly competitive world of “sock hockey”. As expected - brutal- take no prisoners approach was delivered by each team. Unfortunately the Scouts didn’t come away with a win this year.
We used our brains and physics for some Skittle bowl racing, and tent peg races. Our special guests were then treated to a High Tea… Fish Creek Scout style 😎 ☕️
Thankyou to everyone who participated tonight- and we wish everyone a happy Mother’s Day 😊

🏕️DISTRICT CAMP 2026 🏕️
This year we travelled out of our District to the GWS Anderson Scout Camp. From sunshine, purple skies at night, bucketing rain, mud, dust, leaders cutting themselves or hitting their fingers with a hammer (don’t ask!)
We returned the scouts home(after an obligatory stop at Maccas)-wet muddy, stinky, tired and full of stories to tell. So in the scouting world- that is a successful camp. 🤩
Thank-you to all the volunteer organisers and leaders who make this possible.
