Behind every great performance is a great band, and the musicians joining David Dower and Nina Ferro on 30 May are some of Australia's finest.
🎸 Hugh Stuckey – Guitar One of Australia's leading jazz guitarists, Hugh has twice been a finalist at the National Jazz Awards and has toured Europe and featured on multiple ARIA award-winning albums. In 2016 he headed to New York to study at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music, working with some of the world's jazz legends. His album Lilium (2020) showcases the depth and artistry he brings to everything he plays.
🎻 Stephen Hornby – Double Bass Stephen is the creative force behind the award-winning ensemble Koi Kingdom, whose innovative sound earned them the 2025 Art Music Award for Work of the Year: Jazz. A graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts, Stephen blends deep jazz roots with a global, contemporary sensibility — bringing rich colours, textures and bold improvisational ideas to every performance.
🥁 Aaron McCoullough – Drums & Percussion A drummer, multi-percussionist, composer and PhD graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts, Aaron has been a consistent presence on the international jazz scene for over two decades. His album Provenience was hailed by Fine Music Magazine as "technically superb" and "a class act with first-rate musicianship." He is also the recipient of the Australian Post-Graduate Award and the Australia Arts Council Mentorship Award for international study.
Together with David Dower on piano and Nina Ferro on vocals, this is a lineup you simply don't want to miss.
