You hear the voices of the EWIT team all the time, so today we are telling the story of the recent ARBS Exhibition from the voice of Ebony, Year 12 student who came with us to the exhibition.

Ebony: I was initially nervous, not knowing what to expect, but also really excited to explore and learn more about HVAC and refrigeration work as a possible job for my future. I see myself possibly starting a trade when I finish school. When I first walked into the expo, it was a bit intimidating as the expo was so big, but Jasmine made me feel comfortable very quickly. I was introduced to new people, and Jasmine helped guide me when talking to people and businesses, hearing about their different and unique experiences, as well as their own personal advice. This was the highlight of my day. I learnt so many new things, such as what HVAC and refrigeration is about and potential tools commonly used in the trade. I also learnt that it is important to step outside of your comfort zone to discover and learn new things.

Moving from the comfort zone, getting past the fear zone and entering our growth zone, that is where the magic happens.

One of the highlights of the day was introducing Ebony to Trailblazer Millie. Millie has spent the last 42 years working as a HVAC professional and to see her share her enthusiasm and experience with Ebony was simply brilliant.

Massive props to Ebony- and to the industry who responded to positively, this is how we make change.

We’re proud to welcome SA Power Networks as an official EWIT Alliance Partner.

This partnership represents more than sponsorship, it reflects a genuine commitment to creating pathways, visibility and opportunity for women and gender diverse people in trades and the energy sector.

Over the past year, we’ve had the privilege of working alongside the SA Power Networks team through immersive trade exploration programs designed to break down barriers and build confidence for future apprentices and industry leaders.

What stands out most is SA Power Networks’ willingness to move beyond conversation and into action. Their continued focus on inclusion, workforce diversity, respectful workplace culture and increasing representation in trade and leadership roles demonstrates what industry leadership can look like when organisations are intentional about change.

Thank you to the entire SA Power Networks team for backing women in trades and helping create environments where people feel they belong and can see a future for themselves in industry.

Welcome to the village!

Our Talk & Tour with the Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) WA team has been our most attended yet! Perth you really got behind this one.

We had 20 incredible participants join us at the Kewdale manufacturing facility for a behind-the-scenes look at how some of Australia’s most iconic beverages are made. The scale was impressive: 5 production lines producing 28 million cases each year, a dedicated syrup room, 125 team members, all across a 20,000sqm site.

Beyond the numbers, it was the experience that stood out.

We heard inspiring career journeys, saw routine maintenance and sanitisation in action, and gained a real understanding of how manufacturing connects seamlessly into logistics to get products onto shelves. To top it off, we wrapped up with a hands-on quality assurance challenge, where three participants successfully identified all 12 CCEP products.

A huge thank you to the CCEP team for creating such an engaging and insightful experience. You can only be what you can see and experiences like this are supporting EWIT’s 30 by 30 mission.

This program was delivered as part of the AMWU’s Breaking Barriers Project which is funded by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations Building Women’s Careers Funding.
