๐Ÿšป Mangrove Mountain Public Toilets Need Urgent Upgrading
At this weekโ€™s Council meeting, I moved a motion calling for urgent action to replace the aging public toilets at Mangrove Mountain.
โš ๏ธ The current drop toilets no longer meet basic health and safety standards and are heavily used every day by locals, families and visitors to the playground and community hall. Iโ€™ve also raised serious concerns following reports from residents about potential sewage leakage near the playground.
โœ… Mangrove Mountain deserves facilities that are clean, safe and fit for a modern community. Iโ€™ll continue advocating strongly to ensure this muchโ€‘needed upgrade is prioritised in the next Council budget.
Went up there with the Director yesterday to examine the toilet and confirm what needs to be done.
๐Ÿ“ Community infrastructure matters โ€” especially in our villages.

Cr Belinda Neal pushes for urgent
Upgrade of Mangrove Mountain
Public toilets

Councillor Belinda Neal has called for urgent action to replace aging public toilets at Mangrove Mountain, moving a motion at Tuesday nights Council meeting to allocate $650,000 in next years budget for the reconstruction.
The existing drop toilets no longer
meet basic health and safety standards and are heavily used by locals, tourists and families attending the adjacent Hall and playground.
The Mangrove Mountain toilets are of a poor standard, as drop toilets and are inadequate to the present needs of the community' said Cr Neal.
I'm also particularly concerned by
reports from locals that the sewage from the toilets is leaking into the
adjacent playground.
The toilets are extensively used by
residents and tourists with at least 50 people per day using them and many more on weekends at events and
tourists visiting.
The toilets are no longer suitable for
a modern community and are smelly
and unhygienic.
1 am very disappointed that the
coalition of the liberal party and team Central Coast Coast did not see fit to
to allocate the funds necessary for this basic facility in Mangrove Mountain district.
I will continue to pursue this issue
on behalf of the Mangrove Mountain community until the replacement of these toilets until this can be achieved.
Background
Council manages and maintains 212 public toilets across the Central Coast
LGA.

Does our Central Coast Council need any more evidence that the thin toilet paper is not fit-for-purpose? We have been advising of this problem for over a year now. It is not acceptable. It is not hygienic. It is not safe.

Exciting news for Umina Beach! Cr Belinda Neal has secured $650,000 to replace the ageing toilets next to the Umina Beach Surf Club, with brand new facilities including accessible change rooms for people with disabilities. This upgrade responds to strong community feedback and will better serve local residents, tourists, and groups like the disabled Surfer Group, who currently lack suitable amenities.
Design and consultation will take place in 2026โ€“27, with construction planned for 2027โ€“28. Thank you to all councillors who supported this important project, ensuring our public spaces are inclusive and welcoming for everyone.

Today is recognised as the UN โ€˜World Public Toilet dayโ€™ and it is timely that I moved a motion at last night's Central Coast Council meeting to bring forward the implementation of the Public Toilet Strategy allowing renewal of public toilets to occur 6 months earlier
I am pleased to have been a part of providing these essential community facilities in places where young families can benefit such as the Jimmy Jurd Pirate Park in Berkeley Vale and EDSACC Bateau Bay.
