Hey all!

A reminder this Wednesday is our August General Meeting: Conversations with Donna Kellion and Cat Sparks!

A double special guest event! This August’s general meeting will have Donna Kellion, a librarian at ACT Heritage Library come talk to raise awareness of their Local Author Showcase collection, and to provide an overview of the National Edeposit Service (NED), for anyone who is unaware of legal deposit etc. She’ll have a presentation for us and we are looking forward to it!

And if that wasn’t enough, we have our own inimitable Cat Sparks come talk to us about the importance of Conflux Convention and why it’s important to keep these conventions alive for our communities. This is important for every writer, as part of what makes our community shine with the talent that we know you all possess is to help support the venues that project our voices.

Our general meeting will be 7pm on Wednesday 19 August at the Burns Club in Kambah. Link to the online meeting will be posted Soon. We look forward to seeing you there!

Hey everyone! We have our 3 finalists for our Mascot Naming Competition! First I want to thank everyone that submitted, y'all made me smile with your stories, it was hard to pick 3, and even harder to pick one. And that's why we are leaving it up to you! 😛 Our top 3 picks (minus the author as we want to keep it anonymous for now) are: A Good Compromise, A Gubbin in the Roof, and Making Friends. Read the finalist stories that will be posted here. A poll is up now on our Discord so that you can vote for your favorite one! We'll have one week to read the stories and the winner will be announced at our General Meeting next week! Good luck to the finalists and congrats!

Hey everyone! We are extending the CSFG Conflux Short Story Comp until August 9th, midnight AEST!

CSFG are proud to sponsor the Conflux 20 Short Story Competition!

“This year’s theme, Beyond the Abyss, seems entirely appropriate in a time when all our assumptions about how the world worked no longer hold true, a time when the future seems less certain and less promising. And yet, speculative fiction at its best, holds out the promise for a better, saner world – a world Beyond the Abyss.”

CSFG is currently seeking slush readers, if you’re interested please email us at csfg@... with the subject line Conflux 20 Short Story Slush Reader

The short story competition is open to all Australian residents.

Entry to the short story competition is free!

Prizes

First prize is $200 and an award.

Second prize is $50 and an award.

Third prize is $25 and an award.
