Four fun things to play with that you probably already have at home!

Who says playtime needs fancy toys or expensive activities? Sometimes, the simplest things around the house can spark the biggest imaginations!

Here are four easy play ideas to try with your little one:

📦 A cardboard box: Is it a rocket ship, a cosy cubby or a car? Let your little one's imagination lead the way and see what they create!

🥣 A muffin tray and some pasta: Sorting, scooping, pouring and tipping it all out again! A simple way for little hands to explore, discover and practise new skills.

🔦 A torch and a dimly lit room: Make shadows on the wall, follow the light or see what shapes you can create together. A little light can lead to lots of fun!

💦 A bowl of water and a towel: Splashing, pouring and exploring! Add a few cups or spoons and let the water play begin.

The best part? Play doesn't need to be complicated, expensive or perfectly planned.

These everyday moments give children opportunities to explore, use their imagination, build new skills and have fun.

And you might even get a few moments to enjoy that cuppa while it's still warm!

Term 4 is here, and playgroups across Australia are welcoming families back!

From community halls and local parks to neighbourhood centres and shared spaces, playgroups are coming to life again with familiar faces, new friendships and plenty of opportunities to play, learn and connect.

There are toys to unpack, activities to set up and little ones ready to explore!

But playgroup is about so much more than play.

For many parents and carers, it's a chance to take a break from the busyness of everyday life, share experiences, find support and connect with others who understand the joys and challenges of raising young children.

For little ones, it's a place to explore, build confidence, make friends and learn through play.

Here's to another term of play, connection and community!

Whether you're returning to your favourite playgroup or joining one for the first time, we hope Term 4 brings plenty of smiles, laughter and special moments together.

It's National Carers Week, and this year's theme is Care for a Carer.

A lot of the people bringing little ones to playgroup on a Tuesday morning aren't parents. They're grandparents doing three days a week. Aunts and uncles. Kinship carers who took a phone call one afternoon and rearranged their whole life by the end of the month. Foster carers, some of them very new to it.

Nobody hands you a manual for any of that, and most of it happens without anyone outside the family noticing.

If that's you — you're not a visitor at playgroup. You're an important part of what makes our playgroup communities so special.
