Darwin River Volunteer Bushfire Brigade

Darwin River Volunteer Bushfire Brigade The Darwin River Volunteer Bushfire Brigade is located on Darwin River Rd, approximately one & a half kilometres from the entrance gate to Darwin River Dam

The brigade is involved in conducting numerous mitigation burns pre-fire season in order to reduce fire fuel loadings, and conducts controlled burns for private land holders when time permits. The brigade is always in need of new members, and actively encourages anyone within the community to join as it can be very satisfying. Whilst the purpose of the brigade is to prevent and fight fires, there

are many other roles within the brigade that need to be undertaken. Firefighting may be the crux, but do not be put off from becoming a member because you are unable to be on the fire line. There are committee positions to be filled, logistic requirements (equipment maintenance, food and drinks for the fire line etc), fund raising activities, grounds maintenance and a plethora of other tasks that you may be able to assist with.

Are you fire ready? 🔥

Now is the time to prepare your firebreaks. Firebreak can slow fire spread and give firefighters the access they need to protect lives, homes and animals.

All NT landholders are legally required to maintain a firebreak that’s at least 4-metres wide. 🚜

Make sure yours is ready. Clear it. Maintain it. Stay safe.
