🚤✨ Marine Rescue Dampier Annual Dinner & Awards 2025/26 ✨🚤

We came together to celebrate another year of service, dedication and the volunteers who help keep our local boating community safe.

This year alone, our crew responded to 58 incidents (42 requiring active rescue assistance) and safely returning 143 people home to their families and loved ones. These numbers are a reminder of the vital role our volunteers play in our community.

Marine Rescue Dampier continues to operate in one of the busiest and most challenging boating regions in the state, with our area recognised as the 3rd highest-risk recreational boating location in Western Australia and our unit averaging the 5th highest number of rescues each year across all 37 Marine Rescue WA groups.

From volunteer hours on the water to years of service, rank progressions and annual awards, every achievement reflects the commitment and passion of our incredible team.

Throughout the evening we also celebrated members for their outstanding boat hours on the water, presented new qualifications and epaulettes, and welcomed our 2025/26 Executive Committee.

Another great day on the water for our volunteers! 🌊⚓

The other day our crew had a packed day of hands-on training, including towing, rafting and seamanship skills, while also helping our fellow volunteers at Marine Rescue Port Walcott get their new vessel’s autopilot and Simrad systems working together for automated search patterns.

On the way to training, our volunteers also responded to a family needing assistance in the harbour, putting their new skills to work, rafting alongside them before safely towing them back in.

A huge thank you to Cody from Fusion Kitchen Dampier for once again supplying the crew with burgers after training—fuel well earned after a busy day on the water! 🍔 Safe to say Bec’s barra burger was almost as big as a whale! 🐋

🚤 Long weekend boating reminder from your local Marine Rescue crew 🚤

Before you head out on the water, take a few minutes to make sure your vessel is ready to go:

✅ Check your engines
✅ Check your bungs are in place
✅ Check you have enough fuel for the trip — and reserve fuel too
✅ Check safety gear is onboard and in date (lifejackets, flares, EPIRB, radio)
✅ Check weather and sea conditions before departure
✅ Let someone know your trip plan and expected return time

We want you to have a safe and enjoyable long weekend just as much as we’d like to enjoy ours.

If you need assistance on the water, know how to contact Marine Rescue via VHF radio or emergency services if required.

🚤 Post-long weekend reminder 🚤

After a busy long weekend with multiple call-outs, we’d like to remind all boaters to check your engines, bungs, batteries and fuel before heading out.

Make sure your safety gear is onboard, check conditions, and let someone know your plans.

A few simple checks can save your day on the water ending with an early tow back to the jetty.
