It is home to 10 of 12 Tasmanian endemic bird species and has 9 King Island specific subspecies. Situated within two migratory flight paths and often acting as a refuge for vagrant species, you may well find yourself visiting alongside the world's rarest bird: the Orange Bellied Parrot. King Island's incredible diversity of up to 180 species is concentrated on 1098 km2 of forest, farmland, wetlands and pristine beaches, many of which are breeding grounds for such species as the rare Fairy Tern. King Island offers a unique opportunity to be transported back in time to a rare, natural tranquility. Whether traveling alone, in pairs or organised groups, BOKI will provide information on a wide range of accommodation and local information to suit your birding and travelling needs. We offer a depth of bird and local knowledge, including guiding services for walks and key bird observing spots where you might find that special species you are looking for. Welcome to a truly unique birding experience, welcome to BOKI. Note:
BOKI takes great pride in the conservation of the island and our bountiful yet fragile bird population. We therefore reserve the right to discourage and advise against entering known areas of importance (including breeding grounds or threatened/endangered habitat) at certain times of the year. Thank you for your understanding.
