All Cancer Support WA services and activities are designed to empower people to become well using their own inner resources. We offer support groups, counselling, meditation, yoga, reiki, an amazing wellness library, a monthly Wellness magazine and the support of the inspiring Cancer Support WA wellness team!
For over 30 years, Cancer Support WA has helped and supported thousands of Western Australians affected by cancer as an individual, a family member, a friend or as a colleague. We are the pioneers of the wellness approach, and offer an integrative program including emotional and support services, counselling, specialised courses and events, education, a library and around-the-clock support to people with cancer and their families. This year, we are well into a significant transformation following the refurbishment of our premises, in Cottesloe at the historic Wanslea House. We are grateful to be able to deliver our integrative support and wellness program and carry its tradition and symbolic value as a place of caring and nurture. This would not have been possible without the support of The National Trust and Lotterywest. In addition to expanding services, we are enhancing our focus on the role of integrative medicine in cancer management. In this person-centred approach, both medical and natural therapies form part of a comprehensive cancer treatment plan. While a specialised integrative cancer facility in Australia has yet to exist, Cancer Support WA is proud to be part of a movement towards a more integrative, holistic model of cancer care validated by growing research and evidence, and now gaining acceptance amongst medical health care providers and cancer organisations around the world. Our vision for the future is to achieve sustainable service provision across the Western Australian community including the regions, ensuring every individual and family in WA with cancer has access to around-the-clock support and can engage in wellness programs that can potentially change their lives. There is still considerable work ahead of us before we can fulfil our goal, and your support will help us to continue making strides since our beginning.
